Glass bottle – Boston-type dropper bottle represents a professional packaging suitable for precise dispensing and safe storage of various liquid and partially viscous preparations. Thanks to the chemically resistant glass, it is ideal for cosmetic formulations, laboratory solutions, herbal extracts or concentrated aroma blends, where the stability of the contents and the minimisation of interaction between the product and the packaging are important. This type of bottle is popular for its versatility, timeless design and easy integration into existing product ranges.
To select a suitable bottle, jar or other type of packaging, we recommend using the advanced filter in the packaging categories. It is located at the top of the page after clicking on a specific category and allows you to filter according to parameters such as neck type, size, colour and material. This enables you to quickly display only those packages that meet the requirements of your product and filling technology.
The glass packaging can, if hygiene principles are observed, be safely used repeatedly. Before each new filling, the bottle must be thoroughly cleaned and subsequently disinfected with a suitable product, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For this purpose, you can use the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. Only after the alcohol has completely dried and evaporated is the bottle ready to be refilled.
Before the first filling, we recommend first rinsing the bottle with a suitable cleaning agent, then thoroughly rinsing it with drinking water or demineralised water, and finally disinfecting it with an alcoholic solution. In practice, it has proved effective to use isopropyl alcohol or plant-based ethanol, which help remove residual moisture and reduce the microbial load. After disinfection, leave the bottle to dry completely, preferably upside down on a clean, non-linting surface.
When selecting a closure, we recommend checking that it has the same neck type as the bottle itself. Then decide according to the consistency and method of use of the product: for precise dosing of drops, droppers are suitable; for fine application as a spray, use spray pumps; and for oil-based or thicker products, practical applicators or standard screw caps are appropriate. The combinations of packaging and closures offered directly in related products on Handymade are tested; nevertheless, always carry out your own sealing and dosing test with your specific formulation.
The glass bottle is a solid and durable packaging, but during transport it is important to ensure mechanical protection. When travelling, we recommend using a suitable closure with a seal, placing the bottle in a protective cosmetic bag or case, and preventing impacts against hard objects. In the case of very frequent movement, it is practical to combine the glass dropper bottle with a protective outer packaging or to transport it in an upright position in order to minimise the risk of leakage under prolonged pressure on the closure.
If you decide not to use the bottle any longer, we recommend recycling it according to the rules indicated in the material designation of the product in the parameter table. Glass packaging is usually placed in the container designated for glass after it has been freed of any remaining contents and, where possible, of closures made of other materials. By recycling glass dropper bottles, you reduce the amount of waste and support the reuse of raw materials within the circular economy.
