Blue-green French cosmetic clay is a natural mineral mixture of clay components... It comes from French deposits, where the raw material is extracted by mining, then mechanically cleaned, dried and milled into a fine powder suitable for cosmetic use. Thanks to the combination of montmorillonite and illite, the clay has a more pronounced ability to bind excess sebum and impurities, leaving the skin cleaner and more mattified in products. It is often used in the care of normal to oilier skin, in cleansing masks, pastimes and powder blends.
It is most commonly used for normal to more oily skin, as it has a more pronounced mattifying and cleansing effect. For dry or sensitive skin, a lower dosage and a shorter application time is advisable.
Clay binds both sebum and water from the surface of the skin. If the mask dries out completely or is too concentrated, it can feel astringent. A shorter application time and a formulation with humectants helps.
Sift the powder and first mix it in a small amount of liquid to make a smooth slurry. Only then add the rest of the hydrolat or water and mix to the desired consistency.

Yes, as a powder ingredient it can contribute to moisture absorption and a drier feel. It is also recommended to test the possible effect on the product shade and possible colour transfer according to the type of formulation.
