Product description

Glossy black glass medicine bottle, black and gold dropper, 30 ml

Set consisting of a black glossy glass medicine bottle and a dropper with a black and gold closure, ready for filling with facial serums, oil concentrates and other liquid preparations that are dispensed by the drop. Black glass blocks light. Serums with vitamin C or retinol, vegetable oil blends and alcohol-based tinctures therefore stay protected wherever the bottle is standing. The 30 ml volume is a typical size for a serum or facial oil that is used up within a few weeks.

The bottle and the dropper have the same neck type, so the closure fits the bottle without any trial and error, and the length of the dropper is adapted to the height of the bottle. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic preparations.

Suitable uses

  • Facial and hair serums – both water-based and oil-based; with the dropper you measure a few drops onto your palm or directly onto the skin.
  • Facial, beard and nail oils – oily contents are dispensed from the dropper by the drop without running down the neck.
  • Concentrates and blends of active ingredients – for ingredients that oxidise or degrade in light, opaque glass is an advantage.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and dispensing by the drop is common for extracts.
  • Samples and test batches – the small volume is enough for trying out a formulation or for a gift pack.

How to use the set

The dropper is screwed onto the neck of the bottle in the same way as an ordinary cap. Squeezing the bulb and releasing it draws the contents into the glass tube; they are then released drop by drop with gentle pressure. With thicker oils the drops form more slowly, with water-based serums quickly. When you put the dropper back, tighten the black and gold closure by hand, without using force.

Store and transport the bottle upright. If the bottle lies on its side, the contents get into the bulb of the dropper, which shortens its life and worsens the seal with oily and alcohol-based contents.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which displaces part of the contents upwards when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume. If it is filled to the brim, the contents overflow through the neck when the dropper is fitted.

Good to know

Before the first filling, we recommend that you wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water cannot be seen in an opaque bottle, so allow it more time to dry.

Black glass does not allow you to check the level of the contents by eye. You can estimate the remaining contents by shaking or weighing the bottle.

Let the hot phase cool before filling, as glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes.

The dropper combines glass, a silicone bulb, PP and aluminium. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the bulb with your specific formulation so that it does not swell.

After thorough washing, the bottle can be reused. The dropper is harder to clean when the contents change, so when switching to a different formulation it is safer to use a new one.

When dispensing, do not let the dropper come into contact with the skin or your fingers. Returning the tube to the bottle would introduce microorganisms into the contents, which is risky for serums without sufficient preservation.

Closures with the same neck type, stated in the parameters, and other ready-made packaging + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.

For recycling, the bottle is sorted as glass. The dropper consists of several materials and is sorted separately.

Frequently asked questions

Does a black glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, black glass is opaque and does not let light through to the contents. It is therefore suitable for serums with vitamin C, retinol or plant extracts, or for oil blends that oxidise in light. However, protection from light does not replace a correct formulation or preservation of the product.
How much fits into a 30 ml bottle with a dropper?
The bottle is filled with 30 ml, that is, the nominal volume, not to the brim. The reserve above this level is needed for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes the level upwards when screwed in. If you fill the bottle right up to the neck, the contents overflow when the dropper is fitted and soil the thread, which worsens the seal.
Is the set with a black and gold dropper suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the dropper does not have one. Therefore, use the set with a dropper for serums, oils and tinctures, not for homemade oils or syrups.
Can the black bottle with a dropper be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfection. The dropper with a silicone bulb is harder to clean, especially after oily and alcohol-based contents, so when you change the formulation we recommend replacing it with a new one. With the same contents, it is enough to rinse the tube with ethanol and let it dry.
Is the dropper suitable for both oil-based and water-based serums?
Yes, the dropper dispenses both oil-based and water-based contents; only the speed at which the drops form differs. Water-based serums drip quickly and need to be measured out slowly, while thick oils are released gradually. The glass tube does not react with alcohol or oils; with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking the behaviour of the silicone bulb.
