Product description
The black glass bottle with dropper is a ready-made set for products dispensed by drops that should not come into unnecessary contact with light or air. It consists of a glass vial with a nominal volume of 30 ml and a plastic dropper in a matte black finish. The dropper allows precise dispensing, making the set especially suitable for facial serums, facial and hair oils, oil blends with essential oils, and anhydrous concentrates.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle has a separate certification for direct contact with food; the set as a whole with the dropper is intended for cosmetics.
Key benefits
- Light protection – black glass reduces light exposure to the contents, which is valuable with oils high in unsaturated fatty acids, with essential oils, and with light-sensitive active ingredients.
- Drop-by-drop dispensing – the dropper draws the contents into the glass tube and releases them gradually. The customer applies exactly as much serum or oil as needed, without spilling and without finger contact with the neck.
- Glass with no interaction with contents – the glass body does not react with oils, alcohol, or most active ingredients, does not absorb fragrances, and does not alter them.
- Unified appearance – the glossy body and matte dropper in the same colour look cohesive even without a label and complement black-and-white or minimalist designs well.
- Matched set – the bottle and dropper share the same neck type, so closure compatibility does not need to be verified.
Nominal and total volume
For every container we distinguish between nominal volume and total brim volume. Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed to hold during normal filling. Total volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which displaces some of the contents upward when screwed on, and for the expansion of the liquid with temperature change. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is fitted, contaminating the thread and reducing the seal.
With higher-viscosity serums or thicker oils, expect the dropper to draw more slowly and produce larger drops. Test the dosage for the instructions for use with the specific formulation; do not carry it over from another recipe.
Use and filling
The set is suitable wherever the product is applied in small amounts and where protection from light and air matters:
- Facial serums – aqueous and oil-based, especially with light-sensitive active ingredients.
- Facial and hair oils – pure plant oils and blends with essential oils, cuticle oils, beard oils.
- Anhydrous concentrates – oil extracts, vitamin blends, blends with a high proportion of essential oils.
- Oil perfumes – the dropper is used for application to the wrist or neck.
Before the first fill, we recommend washing and disinfecting both the bottle and the dropper with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. The glass tube of the dropper is rinsed by drawing in and releasing the disinfecting solution; the silicone bulb must be left to dry without any residual moisture. When filling, use a funnel or filling nozzle to keep the thread clean. A clean, dry container is especially important for anhydrous products that are not preserved against microbial contamination.
The dropper combines a glass tube, a plastic ring, and a silicone bulb. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or strong solvents, verify the behaviour of the bulb over time (softening, discolouration, loss of elasticity) before using the set in a larger production run.
Good to know
Sealing. The dropper seals by screwing the ring onto the bottle thread. When dispatching products to customers, verify that the contents do not pass through the bulb when the bottle is laid on its side or when pressure changes during transport. For thin oils and alcohol-based solutions, additional outer protection such as a box or wrap is advisable.
Glass and heat. The bottle withstands normal temperatures for cold filling as well as mildly warmed oils. Avoid sudden temperature changes — hot contents in cold glass or vice versa — as the glass may crack.
Labelling. The cylindrical body of the bottle allows a label to be applied around its circumference; the glossy black surface is smooth and the label adheres well. On a black container, a light-coloured or transparent label with light text works well.
Reuse. The glass bottle can be used again after thorough washing and disinfection. We recommend replacing the dropper for reuse, as oil residues in the bulb are difficult to remove and may affect the new contents.
Recycling. The glass body goes in the glass bin. The dropper is a combination of plastic, glass, and silicone, so it is sorted separately from the bottle. The PP ring belongs with plastics; it is advisable to separate the glass tube before disposal.
Closures with the same neck type as listed in the parameters, and other ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations, are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing, and container behaviour with the specific formulation.
