Product description

The black glossy glass bottle with a black and gold dropper is a ready-made set for 50 ml of facial serum, face oil or tincture. The black glass blocks light, so it suits formulations with ingredients that lose effectiveness or change colour when exposed to light. The dropper dispenses the contents drop by drop, so you take out only the amount you need and the rest stays closed in the bottle.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The black and gold collar of the dropper matches the glossy bottle, so the set also works for a finished product intended for sale.

How the set works

The bottle is shaped like a medicine bottle, with a narrower neck and a thread. The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a threaded collar with an aluminium shell. Once screwed on, it seals the neck and also serves as the dispenser. Squeeze the bulb, dip in the tube and release to draw up a few drops, which you then apply to the palm or directly to the skin.

The length of the dropper matches the height of this bottle, so the contents can be drawn up even when the level is low. The glass tube does not absorb odours or dyes, which you will appreciate with strongly scented oils or coloured extracts.

What it is suitable for

  • Serums with sensitive active ingredients – vitamin C, retinol and similar ingredients that benefit from protection against light.
  • Face and skin oils – blends of vegetable oils, where drop-by-drop dispensing prevents overdosing and limits contact of the contents with air.
  • Blends with essential oils – oil concentrates for the face, scalp or beard, applied by the drop.
  • Tinctures and alcohol concentrates – contents intended for precise measuring of a small amount.

The dropper works with liquid contents. Thick serums, gels or viscous emulsions are hard to draw into the tube and flow back out slowly. A pump or a jar is more suitable for such textures.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical capacity of the glass up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper tube, which pushes the level up once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill to the neck, the contents are pushed out through the thread when the dropper is fitted, and the dropper then fails to seal.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. It is enough to rinse the dropper, push the water out of the tube with the bulb and let it air dry. Repeat the same procedure before each further use, as the set is intended for repeated filling.

Pour in the contents only after they have cooled. Glass does not tolerate a sudden temperature difference well, and a hot oil phase can also damage the silicone bulb. Store the bottle upright so that the liquid does not get into the bulb, where it is difficult to clean.

Black glass does not show the level. When making products for sale, it is worth marking the filling date on the label; for your own use, it is enough to shake the bottle occasionally and estimate what is left.

You will find closures with the same neck finish as stated in the parameters, as well as other ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food. The dropper does not have one, so the set as a whole is not intended for food, but exclusively for cosmetics.

At the end of its life, the glass bottle can be handed in for glass recycling. The dropper combines glass, silicone, plastic and aluminium, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the black glossy glass does not let light through to the contents. For serums with vitamin C or retinol, or for oils prone to oxidation, this is an advantage, as the contents keep their colour and effect for longer. The downside is that you cannot see the level or the remaining contents through the glass, so when making products for sale it helps to put the filling date on the label.
How much liquid fits in a 50 ml bottle with a dropper?
The bottle is filled with 50 ml, which is its nominal volume. Physically, more fits inside, but the reserve above the nominal volume belongs to the dropper tube and to the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill it to the brim, the excess is pushed out when the dropper is screwed on, and the thread stays wet and does not seal.
Is this set with a dropper suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the glass bottle itself has a certificate for direct contact with food; the dropper has no such declaration. For homemade oils, syrups or herbal infusions, the bottle is therefore suitable only with a closure that also has a food certificate.
Can I pour a water-based toner or an alcohol tincture into the bottle with a dropper?
Yes, the dropper dispenses water-based, alcohol-based and oil-based contents. With water-based products, each dip of the tube introduces contamination into the contents, so they must be properly preserved. With alcohol tinctures, store the bottle upright so that the contents do not get into the silicone bulb.
How do I clean the dropper for repeated use?
Unscrew the dropper, rinse the tube with warm water or alcohol and push out the residues with the bulb. Oil residues are released by rinsing with alcohol, while water-based ones only need rinsing with water. Do not immerse the bulb in alcohol, just wipe it. Once air dried, the dropper is ready for the next filling.
