The glossy black glass bottle with spray pump is a ready-made set for facial mists, tonics and fragrance waters that need light protection and fine dosing. The bottle with a nominal volume of 30 ml and the black plastic spray pump with a smoke-tinted cap are matched to each other, so there is no need to select or test the closure separately – the container is filled, screwed shut and ready to use. The opaque black glass protects the contents from light, which is especially valuable for water-based products with active ingredients, plant extracts or essential oils that lose stability or change colour in light.

The set is intended for liquid, thin contents that are applied to skin, hair or fabric as a fine mist: facial mists and tonics, hair sprays, alcohol-based fragrance and aromatic waters, room or linen fresheners, solutions for hand or surface disinfection. Its small volume makes it a practical container for travel, handbag use, samples or testing a new formula in a small quantity.

What the set is and is not suitable for

The spray pump works reliably with liquids that have a viscosity close to water: hydrolats and tonics, aqueous solutions of active ingredients, diluted alcohol tinctures, light hair sprays, fragrance waters, room fresheners. It also works for mists with an essential oil dissolved in a hydrolat or water using a solubiliser.

It is less suitable for thick and oily contents. Pure vegetable oils, oil serums with higher viscosity, gels or emulsions either cannot be drawn up by the spray pump, or it sprays them in a stream rather than a mist and clogs over time. For such products we recommend a bottle with a dropper or pump.

Nominal and total volume

When filling, it is useful to distinguish two figures. The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is intended for during normal filling, and this is the number stated on the label. The total volume to the brim is the physical capacity of the glass up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is a margin – when the pump is screwed on, the dip tube submerges into it and there is space for the contents to expand with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will overflow through the thread when the spray pump is fitted and the seal will not seat correctly. What is good to know when filling and using

Preparation before first filling. A new bottle and spray pump arrive from production and transport clean, but not sterile. Before filling with cosmetics, we recommend washing the glass, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing it to dry completely. The spray pump just needs to be rinsed with alcohol and pumped several times on empty to remove any residues from the mechanism.

Dosing. One press releases approximately 0.12 ml of content, which for a full bottle corresponds to roughly 250 doses. Take this into account when planning a formula – a single application of a facial mist typically requires two to three presses.

Opaque contents. Black glass does not show how much product remains. For products with a limited period after opening, it is therefore a good idea to mark the opening date on the label. Glossy glass takes self-adhesive labels well; the surface should be degreased before applying them.

Alcohol and plastics. The spray pump is made of polypropylene, which is resistant to ethanol and common cosmetic ingredients. For products with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the closure with the specific formulation, as well as checking the seal and mist quality during longer storage.

Repeated use. The glass can be refilled after thorough washing and disinfection. The spray pump is harder to clean – the inside of the mechanism and the dip tube cannot be cleaned mechanically, so replace it with a new one when changing the type of product or at the first sign of mustiness.

Contact with cosmetics and food. The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity is available with the product. The glass bottle alone has a certificate for direct food contact; the spray pump does not. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic and technical use, not for filling food products.

Recycling. Once the set has served its purpose, glass goes with glass waste and the spray pump with plastics – separate the set before disposal.
