Product description

Clear glass medicine bottle with a capacity of 10 ml, supplied together with a white glossy dropper. The set is used for dispensing small amounts of liquid cosmetic products drop by drop, most often facial serums, face oils and concentrated blends, where only a few drops are needed per use. Clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, so it suits products whose appearance you want to keep visible, and it is also obvious at a glance how much of the contents remains.

Both the bottle and the dropper are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial serums and oil concentrates – the dropper dispenses one to a few drops, which reduces waste with more expensive active ingredients and limits finger contact with the contents.
  • Cuticle, eyebrow and eyelash oils – a small volume is used up before the oil has time to oxidise, and the drop is applied precisely.
  • Blends of essential oils in a carrier oil – a volume of 10 ml is a common format for aromatherapy and massage blends.
  • Samples and testers – for customer samples of serums or oils, the set replaces a large pack and the customer also receives a dropper straight away.

How the dropper works

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a white glossy threaded PP cap. Squeezing the bulb draws the liquid in, and slowly releasing the pressure dispenses it drop by drop. The contents come into contact mainly with the glass tube, which does not react with oils or with alcohol. Its length is matched to the height of the bottle, so the remainder of the contents at the bottom can be drawn up as well.

The closure is tightened by hand until it stops. We recommend testing the tightness of the set on a single piece before larger-scale filling, especially with thin liquids and during transport.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and can be found in the parameters. The difference between them provides a reserve for the submerged dropper tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Fill up to the nominal volume, not up to the rim. If the level reaches the neck, the tube will displace the contents when the dropper is screwed on, and the liquid will overflow through the thread.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the tube would get into an anhydrous oil or serum.
  • Light – clear glass does not protect the contents from light. For light-sensitive contents, such as unrefined oils, essential oils or serums with vitamin C, choose amber or blue glass, or keep the set in a box.
  • Heat – the glass withstands normal temperatures during production, but sudden temperature changes may cause it to crack. Let the contents cool to room temperature before filling.
  • Reuse – the bottle can be washed and refilled. Rinse the dropper with alcohol, rinse the bulb several times by drawing liquid in and squeezing it out, and check that the silicone has not hardened or cracked.
  • Recycling – the bottle belongs with glass. The dropper consists of glass, plastic and silicone, so separate the glass tube from the plastic cap before sorting.

For blends with a high proportion of essential oils or with solvents, check how the silicone bulb and the plastic cap behave. The glass withstands these contents, but the plastic parts may soften or harden over time.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear 10 ml glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. It suits contents that are not harmed by light, or products stored in a box or a drawer. For oils prone to oxidation, essential oils and serums with vitamin C, amber or blue glass is more suitable.
How much actually fits into a 10 ml glass bottle with a dropper?
It is filled up to the nominal volume of 10 ml, not up to the rim. The bottle has a physically larger total volume, and the exact value can be found in the parameters. The reserve is needed so that the submerged glass tube fits in when the dropper is screwed on, and so that the contents are not pushed out through the thread when the temperature changes.
Is the glass dropper suitable for oil serums?
Yes, the glass tube of the dropper is suitable for oil serums and facial oils, because glass does not react with oils and can be rinsed easily. Thicker oils are drawn up more slowly and the drops are larger, so we recommend testing the dispensing with the specific oil.
Can the bottle with a dropper be used for alcohol-based cosmetic products?
Yes, both the glass of the bottle and the glass tube of the dropper withstand alcohol without problems. During longer storage of alcohol-based contents, check whether the silicone bulb and the plastic cap change shape or elasticity. Also check the tightness of the thread, because alcohol evaporates quickly and thin solutions leak more easily.
How do I clean the glass bottle and the dropper before reuse?
Wash the bottle in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry upside down. Rinse the dropper with alcohol several times by drawing it in and squeezing it out through the tube, then leave it to dry. Before filling, check that no drops of water remain in the tube, as they would get into an anhydrous filling.
Which closures fit the 10 ml glass medicine bottle?
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters fit the bottle, which means caps and sprayers with this thread as well as the dropper. You can find ready-made combinations of the bottle with a closure in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend testing the tightness and dispensing with the specific contents on a single piece.
