Product description

A glass bottle with a white spray pump, volume 10 ml, is a small set for liquid preparations applied by spraying – facial mists, tonics, hydrolates, perfume waters and alcohol sprays. It is particularly suited to samples, travel sizes and testing new formulations, where a small quantity is sufficient and clean, even dispensing matters.

The bottle in a vial shape is made of clear glass, so the contents are visible and the volume and clarity can be easily checked. Glass does not react with alcohol or fragrance components and does not absorb odours, so the set can be reused after cleaning. The white spray pump made of polypropylene is included with the bottle, so there is no need to source a cap with a matching neck. Both the bottle and the spray pump are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not for food use.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial and body mists – aqueous solutions with humectants, hydrolates or light tonics are applied as a fine mist without finger contact with the contents.
  • Perfume waters and fragrance samples – the alcohol base sprays well and the small volume allows customers or acquaintances to try the fragrance before purchasing a larger size.
  • Alcohol hand sprays and refreshers – dilute solutions are compatible with the spray mechanism and the format is convenient to carry in a pocket or bag.
  • Test batches – when developing a new formulation, it is sufficient to prepare a small quantity, fill the bottle and observe how the preparation behaves in real use.

Filling and dispensing

The spray pump releases a small, always consistent dose with each press, so the contents are used economically and applied evenly. It works reliably with thin aqueous or alcohol-based liquids. Oils, emulsions and thicker serums are not suitable for this type of spray pump – they either will not atomise or the nozzle will gradually clog.

When filling, it is useful to know the difference between the two volumes listed in the specifications. The nominal volume is the quantity the container is intended for during normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them provides a reserve for the dip tube and the spray mechanism, which after screwing on push part of the contents upward, and for expansion of the liquid with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will overflow when the spray pump is attached.

If the dip tube extends past the bottom and bends after the spray pump is attached, trim it with a sharp knife at an angle so that it ends just above the bottom. The angled cut prevents the tube from suctioning against the glass and the spray pump will then empty the bottle almost to the last drop.

What is worth knowing

Before first use, rinse the bottle with hot water, or disinfect with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely. Flush the spray pump by pressing it several times with clean water or alcohol and then empty, to clear any residues from the tube and nozzle.

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Preparations with light-sensitive ingredients, such as certain vitamins, essential oils or plant extracts, should be stored away from direct sunlight or filled into amber or blue glass. For tonics, hydrolates and perfume waters intended for quick use, a clear bottle is a common and practical choice.

The polypropylene of the spray pump withstands water and alcohol at typical concentrations. For preparations with a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the plastic components with the specific formulation.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour hot liquid into a cold bottle and do not heat it directly on a hob – when heat sterilising, allow the glass to warm up gradually together with the water.

The bottle is suitable for repeated use; clean it thoroughly before refilling, especially when changing fragrance or type of preparation. The smooth cylindrical body labels well.

The spray pump is part of the set and is matched to the bottle neck. Additional caps with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and cap combinations are available in the Handymade range; for a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing performance with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 10 ml glass bottle with spray pump suitable for oils?
No, this spray pump is intended for thin aqueous and alcohol-based liquids. Oils and thicker serums have higher viscosity; the spray pump will either not atomise them at all, or will dispense them in a stream and the nozzle will clog over time. For oil-based preparations in small volumes, a bottle with a dropper or a pump designed for oils is more suitable.
How much liquid actually fits in the 10 ml bottle with spray pump?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 10 ml, although its physical volume to the brim is larger. The reserve above the nominal volume is needed for the dip tube and the spray mechanism, which after fitting push the level upward, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If filled right to the neck, the liquid would overflow when the spray pump is screwed on.
Does the clear glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and therefore does not protect the contents from its effects. For preparations with light-sensitive ingredients, amber or blue glass is preferable, or storage in the dark. For tonics, hydrolates and perfume waters that are used up quickly, a clear bottle is a common choice, with the advantage that the contents are visible.
Can the 10 ml glass bottle with spray pump be reused?
Yes, both the glass and the polypropylene spray pump are suitable for repeated use. Rinse the bottle with hot water or alcohol and allow to dry; flush the spray pump with several presses of clean water or alcohol and then empty. When changing fragrance or type of preparation, thorough cleaning is more important to prevent residues from mixing.
Does the spray pump on the 10 ml bottle withstand alcohol and essential oils?
Yes, the polypropylene spray pump handles alcohol at the concentrations commonly used in perfume waters or hand sprays well. With a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or other solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the plastic components with the specific formulation, as some ingredients may over time soften the seal or impair the movement of the piston.
