Product description

Small glass pharmaceutical bottle with a volume of 10 ml, supplied as a set with a long plastic inner dropper and a white ribbed safety cap. It is intended for liquid preparations that are dispensed by the drop: essential oils and their blends, light facial and nail serums, oil-based or alcohol-based fragrance samples, tinctures or small test batches of new recipes. Clear glass shows the colour and the remaining amount of the contents, which is useful for samples and when working with several variants at once.

How the set works

The inner dropper is pressed into the neck of the bottle and the cap is screwed onto the 18/410 neck finish over the inner dropper. The contents are then dispensed by tilting the bottle. The inner dropper releases them drop by drop and prevents a larger amount from pouring out at once. The long version of the inner dropper sits deep in the neck, so it stays in place during normal handling.

The ribbed surface of the cap makes it easier to unscrew, even with the small diameter or with oily fingers.

What it is suitable for

  • Essential oils and blends – dispensing by the drop into a diffuser, massage oil or recipe straight from the bottle.
  • Low-viscosity serums – facial, hair or nail serums where a few drops are enough for one use.
  • Fragrance samples – fragrance compositions in an oil or alcohol base for testing before larger production.
  • Tinctures and extracts – smaller amounts of alcohol-based extracts for cosmetic purposes.
  • Test batches – trying out a new recipe in a small volume without using up a larger container.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. Total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between them provides a reserve for the inner dropper, which takes up part of the space once pressed into the neck, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal volume. If the bottle were filled right up to the neck, the inner dropper would push the contents out and the cap might not seat properly.

When filling, leave free space below the neck for the inner dropper. Filling through a small funnel or with a syringe works well, so that no contents remain on the thread and the cap seals properly.

Preparation and reuse

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the plastic parts, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. The glass withstands hot water. Clean the PP inner dropper and the PE cap with lukewarm or warm water.

The set can be used repeatedly. When changing the contents, it is advisable to replace the inner dropper, because the plastic may retain the odour of the previous contents, especially after essential oils. In the case of longer contact with concentrated essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the plastic parts with your specific formulation.

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Store essential oils, oils prone to oxidation and light-sensitive active ingredients in this packaging in the dark or in a box, or choose a dark glass pharmaceutical bottle instead.

Good to know

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not intended for contact with food, so do not use it for homemade oils or syrups.

The inner dropper is designed for liquid contents. Thicker oils, melted butters or gels flow out of it slowly or not at all. For such contents, packaging with a different closure is more suitable.

Closures with the same neck type and ready-made packaging + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you combine components yourself, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Glass belongs in the glass recycling bin, the inner dropper and the cap in the plastics bin.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear 10 ml glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through. For essential oils, vegetable oils prone to oxidation or light-sensitive active ingredients, dark glass is more suitable, or you can store this bottle in the dark. Clear packaging makes sense where you want to see the colour and amount of the contents, for example with samples and test batches.
How much fits into a 10 ml glass bottle with an inner dropper?
The usual filling is 10 ml, that is, the nominal volume. The physical volume up to the neck is larger, but the reserve is taken up by the inner dropper and the space for the expansion of the contents. If you fill the bottle right up to the brim, pressing in the inner dropper pushes part of the contents out and the cap may not seal properly.
Can a glass pharmaceutical bottle with a plastic inner dropper be used for essential oils?
Yes, dispensing essential oils by the drop is one of the main uses of this set. The inner dropper and the cap are both plastic, so in the case of long-term contact with concentrated oils we recommend checking their behaviour and, with repeated use, replacing the inner dropper. Store the bottle in a dark place, as clear glass does not protect the contents from light.
How do I clean a bottle with an inner dropper before reusing it?
Take the set apart, pull the inner dropper out of the neck and wash all the parts. The glass withstands hot water, while the plastic parts should be cleaned with lukewarm water. After washing, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. When changing the contents, especially after fragrance oils, it is better to use a new inner dropper.
Is a 10 ml glass bottle with an inner dropper suitable for thick oil or cream?
No, the inner dropper is designed for liquid contents. Thicker oils flow out slowly, and creams or gels will not pass through the opening. For such products, choose packaging with a different type of closure or a jar. For low-viscosity serums, tinctures and essential oils, the inner dropper dispenses precisely and without spilling.
