Product description

Glass dropper bottle kit of the vial type with a volume of 10 ml and a dropper with a matte silver cap is intended for cosmetic preparations that are dispensed drop by drop and used in small quantities. It is suitable for facial serums, concentrates of active substances, facial oil serums, cuticle care, or for samples and test batches when developing your own formula.

The clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, which you will appreciate with serums and oils where you want to see what is in the bottle. Glass is also chemically stable, does not react with oils, alcohol solutions or essential oils, and can be thoroughly cleaned and reused. The dropper releases the contents one drop at a time, so concentrated preparations are consumed in a controlled manner and without waste.

Key benefits

  • Precise dosing – the dropper releases the contents drop by drop, which suits serums and concentrates where only a few drops are applied per use.
  • Inert glass – the bottle does not absorb fragrance or colorants and does not react with the contents, making it suitable for alcohol and oil preparations containing essential oils.
  • Visible contents – the transparent wall allows you to monitor the colour, clarity and remaining quantity.
  • Matte silver appearance – the dropper cap with a matte silver finish and white bulb creates a uniform look across the entire product range and pairs well with a label.
  • Reusable – both the bottle and the dropper can be washed, disinfected and refilled.

How the kit works

The bottle has a narrow threaded neck onto which the dropper is screwed. The dropper consists of a glass tube reaching to the bottom of the bottle, a flexible bulb for suction, and a threaded collar that closes the neck. By pressing and releasing the bulb, the contents are drawn into the tube; pressing again releases them drop by drop. The length of the dropper is matched to the height of the bottle, so the tube reaches deep enough and the contents can be dispensed almost without residue.

Tighten the dropper after each use to prevent the contents from evaporating and to avoid the bulb being in prolonged contact with the product unnecessarily. For oil serums with a high proportion of essential oils, check how the bulb tolerates the specific formulation before larger-scale production.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial serums – both water-based and oil-based, where a few drops are applied to the face.
  • Active ingredient concentrates – such as vitamin solutions or blends intended to be added to a cream.
  • Nail and cuticle oil blends – the small volume and drop application are well suited to this type of product.
  • Essential oil blends – glass tolerates them without problems and drop dispensing makes it easy to dose precisely into a carrier oil.
  • Samples and test batches – the volume of 10 ml is practical for trialling a formula as well as for gift or travel packaging.

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. For light-sensitive preparations such as serums containing vitamin C, retinoids or oils prone to oxidation, store them away from direct light or opt for dark glass from the Handymade range.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling. Total volume to the rim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is higher. The difference represents the allowance for the glass dropper tube, which displaces part of the volume when screwed in, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim. If overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is fitted.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. Wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water could dilute the preservative in water-based serums and cause cloudiness in oil-based preparations.

Water-based and alcohol-based contents. Water-based serums require a preservative. The risk of contamination from drop application is lower than with an open jar, but not zero. The dropper tube should not touch the skin, otherwise microorganisms may be introduced into the bottle. Glass tolerates alcohol solutions without problems.

Oil-based contents. Thicker oils are dispensed by the dropper more slowly, but reliably. For very viscous blends with a high proportion of butters, suction may be difficult and a different type of closure or packaging may be more suitable.

Labelling. The cylindrical wall offers a flat surface for a label; exact dimensions can be found in the product parameters. For oil fills, apply the label before filling to avoid it sticking to a greasy surface.

Closures. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, verify the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Suitability for cosmetics. Both the bottle and the dropper are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The kit is not intended for food.

Recycling. The glass bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper is a combination of glass, aluminium, plastic and silicone, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

Glass is sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot phase into a cold bottle and do not expose filled bottles to frost. The contents expand when frozen and the glass may crack.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass allows light through and does not protect the contents. It is suitable for preparations that are not light-sensitive, or for products stored in a box or dark cabinet. For serums containing vitamin C, retinoids or oxidation-sensitive oils, dark glass from the Handymade range is more appropriate.
How much does a 10 ml glass dropper bottle actually hold?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 10 ml, not to the rim. The physical volume of the bottle up to the neck is higher, but this allowance is taken up by the glass dropper tube and room for expansion of the contents. If overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is screwed on.
Is a glass dropper bottle suitable for an oil serum?
Yes, oil serums are among the most common uses of this kit. Glass does not absorb oils or essential oils, and the dropper dispenses even thicker oils, just more slowly. For blends with a very high proportion of essential oils, check how prolonged contact affects the dropper bulb.
Can a glass dropper bottle be washed and reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the dropper can be reused. Simply wash the bottle with warm soapy water, rinse and disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Rinse the dropper by drawing in and expelling clean water, then alcohol. Allow both parts to dry completely before refilling.
Does a water-based serum in a dropper bottle need a preservative?
Yes, every water-based preparation needs a preservative regardless of the type of packaging. The dropper reduces the risk of contamination compared to an open jar, since the fingers do not touch the contents, but air enters the bottle with every opening. The dropper tube should not touch the skin.
What dropper or closure fits this glass bottle?
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the product parameters are suitable for this bottle. In addition to the supplied dropper, this includes other caps and closures in the corresponding size and ready-made combinations available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, verify the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation.
