Product description

Glycolic acid 70% is intended for professional chemical peeling. It is a very concentrated substance that must be diluted before use on the skin.
CAUTION! For use on the skin, glycolic acid is used at an ideal concentration of 5%, maximum 10%.

It is referred to as an acid because it has a pH lower than 7, specifically 1.5. Chemical peeling is the removal of a layer of old cells (stratum corneum) on the skin not by means of mechanical stimulation as with a classic scrub, but by means of acids.

Glycolic acid belongs to the group of AHA acids and in its essence it is an exfoliant. It works by dissolving the sebum on the surface of the skin that binds dead cells to the complexion. Besides beautifully brightening the complexion, it also lowers the pH of your skin, which helps in the fight against acne. By removing dead cells, it initiates the formation of new ones. It also increases the absorption of cosmetics into the skin and removes pigment spots.

Within 12 hours after treatment, slight redness of the skin may occur, and a feeling of tightness or mild burning may appear.

HOW TO DILUTE GLYCOLIC ACID?
Glycolic acid is diluted with distilled water. Always add the acid to the water, not the other way around.

3% glycolic acid
0.43 g of 70% acid + 9.57 g of water = 10 g

(From a 10 ml pack of 70% glycolic acid you will make a 3% solution by mixing it with 232 ml of water)

5% glycolic acid
0.7 g of 70% acid + 9.3 g of water = 10 g

(From a 10 ml pack of 70% glycolic acid you will make a 5% solution by mixing it with 142 ml of water)

10% glycolic acid
1.4 g of 70% acid + 8.6 g of water = 10 g

(From a 10 ml pack of 70% glycolic acid you will make a 10% solution by mixing it with 71 ml of water)

If you want to prepare a different concentration, proceed according to the formula:

X = (desired concentration 0.5 for 50% x amount you want to prepare in g or ml)/original concentration 0.7 for 70%

To create 100 g of a 50% concentration from 70% glycolic acid, the formula will look as follows:

X=(0.5x100)/0.7

X=71.429

So to obtain 100 g of a 50% solution you will need 71.429 g of 70% glycolic acid and 28.57 g of water.

To achieve an exact result, we recommend weighing the raw materials and not measuring them by volume.

A big favourite ingredient of mine! I add it to shampoo for hair shine, but also to products where I want to lower the pH a bit.
