What is a fizzing bath bomb?
The basic ingredients of fizzing products are citric acid and sodium hydrogen carbonate (baking soda). These ingredients do not react with each other without the action of water, but if we throw them into water, they react with the formation of carbon dioxide, which fizzes – hence the name fizzing product :) So much for the chemistry.
In cosmetics, however, it is not only about chemistry, which is why various additives are added to fizzing products that have a beneficial effect on our body. Various salts are used as additives, which relax the muscles, oils that hydrate the skin, dried herbs, essential oils and colorants.
I have prepared for you a recipe using Epsom salt and olive oil.
To make a fizzing bath bomb we will need:
112 g baking soda
56 g citric acid
56 g Epsom salt
56 g starch (potato or corn)
2 tsp distilled water
2 tsp olive oil
Fragrance oil
Mica colorant
mold for making the fizzing product
How to do it?
In a bowl we mix the dry raw materials, we mix them thoroughly, in another bowl we mix the wet raw materials. Very slowly, we gradually add the wet raw materials to the dry ones and stir continuously. After being pressed in the palm, the mixture should hold together. We fill the hemispheres with the mixture and join them. With a spoon we tap on the hemispheres so that they separate from the formed fizzing product. We let the fizzing product dry for at least one day. You will learn more in the video below:
We use it simply by throwing it into the bath, the chemical reaction I wrote about in the introduction takes place – fizzing, the salt relaxes our muscles, helps with skin diseases and also heart diseases, the oil softens the skin.
