Cinnamon is considered one of the oldest and most valuable spices in the world. It was already used by the Egyptians in ancient times, when its value could even be compared to the value of gold. It even became the basis of traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. Essential oil of cinnamon can be obtained in two ways: by steam distillation from the bark or from the leaves of the Cinnamomum zeylanicum tree.

In aromatherapy it alleviates feelings of depression, faintness and exhaustion. It is also considered a natural aphrodisiac. When the fragrance is dispersed throughout the space, it refreshes and deodorises, acting with its characteristic warm aroma, relaxing, calming and uplifting the mood. These soothing effects support a calm mind and the ability to concentrate.

Thanks to its anti‑rheumatic properties it helps aching joints and muscles. It strengthens immunity, reduces symptoms of colds and flu, improves blood circulation, thus helping to prevent headaches as well as digestive problems. Its antibacterial properties predispose it for the treatment of acne, rashes and infections. Antioxidant properties in turn help slow down ageing.

WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?

Essential oils, also called ethereal oils, are natural aromatic substances that come from various parts of plants – trunks, roots, seeds, flowers, leaves, etc. They give plants their characteristic fragrance and, in addition, they also have therapeutic and protective effects. They have a very positive effect on symptoms on the physical, emotional and mental level. 

Their chemical composition is fairly complex. Essential oils (volatile oils) are obtained from plants most often by distillation, extraction or pressing. Essential oils are highly concentrated and are used directly on the skin only after dilution with carrier vegetable oils (almond, apricot kernel, jojoba, etc.). The only exception is essential oil of tea tree and lavender, which you can apply directly.

Use essential oils for inhalation or in your cosmetic products; we do not recommend ingestion of any essential oils of any brands.

Essential oils are fat‑soluble, therefore if you want to use them in products that do not contain oils and butters, use a solvent /solubiliser/.

HOW WILL I USE ESSENTIAL OIL?

Production of cosmetics and soaps – the required amount of essential oil depends on the specific recipe and the quantity produced.
Inhalation, steaming – drip a few drops of essential oil into an aroma lamp, diffuser, or into a vessel with hot water.
Bath – mix the drops of oil in a base oil /coconut, olive.../, in 1 dl of milk or in a teaspoon of honey, pour this mixture into the bathtub. Essential oils on their own are insoluble in water, the drops would float on the surface.
Massage – add a few drops of essential oil to cold‑pressed vegetable oil (approx. 50 ml) and mix well. A pleasant massage.
Sauna – you can choose from conifers, rosemary, eucalyptus, sage, mint or citrus aromas. The number of drops depends on the size of the sauna and your taste.
