Keragreen sunflower wax is a 100% plant-based wax obtained by hydrogenation of sunflower oil. It has a slightly creamy to white colour, a neutral odour and a fine texture that ensures a smooth candle surface. It is produced in Europe without the use of palm oil or GMO raw materials. The wax is suitable for the production of natural and vegan candles with a low carbon footprint.

Use in formulation

• Melting: melt the wax evenly at 65 – 75 °C, avoid overheating above 85 °C.
• Adding fragrance: add at a temperature of around 70 °C, stir well for even dispersion.
• Pouring temperature: recommended 60 – 65 °C (for container candles); in a cold room it may need to be slightly higher.
• Colouring: suitable for powder or liquid dyes intended for plant-based waxes.
• Stabilisation: allow the candle to harden and cure for at least 48 hours before testing.

Dosage and combinations

• Recommended fragrance load: up to 7% depending on the type of fragrance and desired aroma intensity.
• Can be combined with other natural waxes (to improve hardness or increase gloss).
• Suitable for fragrances and essential oils intended for candles (IFRA category 12).

Safety and regulatory principles

• The product is not classified as hazardous – safe for use in cosmetics and candle making.
• When handling hot wax, observe basic safety measures – avoid contact with skin and eyes.
• Do not dispose of wax waste into the sewage system, store away from sources of heat and direct sunlight.

Storage and stability

• Store in a dry, shaded place at temperatures up to 25 °C, protected from moisture and dust.
• Avoid prolonged overheating – it may cause changes in colour and fragrance stability.

Technical tips for practice

• Preheat the container to 40 – 50 °C so that the wax adheres better and does not create “wet spots”.
• Trim the wick to 6 mm before each use – this ensures even burning and a clean flame.
• For larger container diameters, use a larger or multiple wick to ensure even melting of the surface.
