Product description

KeraSOy massage is a natural soy wax blend developed specifically for massage candles in containers. It is biodegradable, vegan, palm oil free and dermatologically tested. It is characterized by a low melting point, a pleasant melted wax temperature on the skin and a very good compatibility with fragrances designed for natural waxes.

Key benefits

  • Optimized for jar massage candles - pleasantly low application temperature.
  • Excellent fragrance binding; recommended dosage up to 10-12% (depending on fragrance type).
  • No need for additives - just add fragrance and colorant as needed.
  • Vegan, palm oil free, dermatological testing declared.
  • Can be re-melted and re-poured; easy to process.

Suitable for products such as

  • Massage candles for containers (spa, home wellness, aromatherapy).
  • Ritual and relaxation candles with direct skin contact (using body-safe fragrances).

Use in formulation

  • Melting: heat the wax evenly; it can withstand higher temperatures (up to ~90 °C) for a short time, then cool quickly. Prolonged overheating may cause discoloration.
  • Temperature for colouring: powder dyes melt best around 70-75 °C; for liquid or no colour, work around ~70 °C.
  • Fragrance: add just before casting; recommended level up to 10-12% (prefer fragrances developed for natural waxes).
  • Pouring temperature: approximately at 45-55 °C (closer to the congealing point for better adhesion to the glass).
  • Wicks: natural waxes often need a slightly larger wick than paraffin wax; always test with a specific scent, colour and container diameter.
  • Stabilization: allow candles to rest for 48 hours before testing and flame/scent evaluation.

Dosage and combinations

  • Fragrance ingredients: 0-10% (max 12% depending on TDS and compatibility of specific fragrance). For massage candles, use only cosmetically safe fragrances/essential oils and respect IFRA limits.
  • Colouring: compatible with common natural wax colours (powder, liquid, block/chip).
  • Mixing: blend is miscible with related natural waxes (e.g. other soy blends) - always test final compatibility.

Storage and stability

  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat, sunlight and moisture.
  • Do not reheat repeatedly and for prolonged periods above ~85°C; discolouration and deterioration may occur.

Technical tips for practice

  • Pre-pouring into preheated containers (~45-50 °C) improves adhesion to the glass.
  • For larger diameter jars, if it is necessary to level the surface, pour a small amount of wax a few degrees warmer than the original pour before the candle has completely cooled.
  • Shorten the wick to about 6 mm, watch for "mushrooming" and change the wick type/size as needed.

FAQ

Is KeraSoy Massage safe on the skin?

The manufacturer declares vegan origin, no palm oil and dermatological testing of the blend. However, always perfume massage candles with appropriate (IFRA) ingredients and recommend a patch test for sensitive skin.

What is the recommended dosage of fragrance?

The manufacturer states up to 10-12% depending on the type of fragrance. For products with skin contact, respect IFRA limits and test for compatibility with wax.

At what temperature should I pour KeraSoy Massage candles?

Generally 45-55°C; fine-tune the exact temperature according to the diameter of the container, the type of fragrance and the desired surface. Add the fragrance just before pouring.

Do I need to add additives or hardeners?

No, the blend is designed to work without additives. Only scents and possibly colors compatible with natural waxes are added.

How do I know which fragrance is suitable for my candles?

The description of each fragrance on Handymade.com will tell you if it is suitable for candles, cosmetics or both. For candle-safe fragrances, look for the "candle-safe" or "wax-safe" label. Also check the IFRA document to be absolutely sure - classic candles fall into the IFRA 12 category.

However, if you are making massage or body candles, look for fragrances intended for cosmetic use - for example, IFRA categories 4 to 6 (body creams, oils, balms). Such fragrances are tested for skin contact and safe for cosmetic products.

What is the melting point of wax and why is it important?

This wax has a lower melting point, typically around 45.5°C (range 42-48°C). This makes the melted wax pleasantly warm on contact with the skin and suitable for massage candles. When melted and poured on the skin, it is therefore pleasant and does not pose a burn hazard.
