Licorice CO₂-to extract with MCT oil is a standardized plant extract obtained from the dried root of Glycyrrhiza uralensis (licorice) by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction with a small amount of ethanol. The extract is then diluted with coconut MCT oil to a precisely defined bioactive content. It has a brown colour, viscous consistency and a mild, sweetish taste typical of liquorice. Thanks to its isoflavanone content, it is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and soothing, while it does not contain glycyrrhizin - the substance responsible for the typical sweetness and potential undesirable effects. It is a CO₂-to (total extract) - a complete extract that contains the full spectrum of the root's lipophilic constituents including isoflavanones, coumarins, plant sterols and waxes.

Use in formulation

• Solubility: Oil phase
• Recommended dosage: 0.1-3 %
• Temperature stability: Recommended to be added during cooling (at temperatures below 40 °C)

• Handling: The extract is concentrated - warm to 40 °C and mix well before use. Not suitable for direct skin contact or internal use.

Cosmetic use

In cosmetics, liquorice CO₂ extract is mainly used for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains the isoflavanones licoricidin and licorisoflavan A, which have been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause tooth decay, halitosis and gingivitis. It is also suitable for the care of irritated, problematic or sensitive skin, where it improves regeneration and reduces inflammation. It is added to toothpastes, mouthwashes, balms, creams or ointments for its naturally soothing and protective action. Coconut MCT oil acts as a light carrier that improves the application and stability of the extract in the formulation, while enhancing the absorption of the active ingredients.

Safety and storage

For external use only. Store in a cool, dry and dark place, tightly closed and out of reach of children. Warm to 40 °C and mix before use. Do not apply directly to skin - use only as part of cosmetic formulations.
