Liquid dyes for soaps and water-phase cosmetics

The category holds 115 liquid dyes in three ranges: the Extra range (45 products), the Classic range (45 products) and Zenicolor — 25 items (20 shades) for soap mass. They are concentrated pigment solutions that solve the most common problem in colouring soaps and cosmetics: an even, clean colour without lumps, clots or sediment.

Why a liquid form

A liquid dye homogenises in the base quickly and without dispersion — simply stir it in and the colour spreads on its own. In transparent bases it holds an even shade without settling; compared with powder pigments, the resulting colours are lighter and more translucent. On top of that, all shades are mutually miscible, so you can mix your own colours from the basic palette — always check new combinations on a small test batch.

Where liquid dyes work — and where they don't

They give the best results in glycerine soaps and transparent soap bases, and also in shampoos, shower gels, foams and bath salts. They are compatible with most surfactant systems and do not affect the product's pH. We do not recommend them for cold process soaps — in a strongly alkaline environment they can shift shade or fade. For cold process and for saturated or metallic effects, reach for powder colourants.

How to choose a range

• Extra range: 15 shades — light and dark variants of the basic colours plus strawberry, from soft pink to dark brown and dark green; each in 10, 50 and 100 ml packs. See the overview in the Extra range section.
• Classic range: 15 shades including white, black, chocolate, nude and magenta, also in 10, 50 and 100 ml. Find them in the Classic range section.
• Zenicolor: dyes made for soap mass — 20 Zenicolor SOLO shades in 30 g, selected shades also in 250 g, plus the Zenicolor 5 set. Details in the Zenicolor dyes section.
• Saturated and metallic shades: for cold process soaps and full-colour effects, choose from the powder colourants range.

Dosage and stability

The usual dosage is 0.1–1% of the product's weight; transparent bases need even less — add the dye gradually until you reach the desired intensity. In emulsions, stir it into the water phase before emulsifying. Some shades are sensitive to UV light, so store the dyes in dark bottles away from direct light and heat and shake before use — stored properly, they last several years.

Every dye comes with a safety data sheet (SDS/MSDS) and a certificate of analysis (COA); the dyes meet the legislative requirements for colourants for cosmetic purposes and are intended for external use.
