Essences obtained by CO2 extraction are some of the purest essences with a higher proportion of individual chemical components than those found in essential oils obtained by steam distillation, as they do not contain residual solvents, inorganic salts, heavy metals or bacteria capable of reproduction. Their use is the same as for essential oils, but in a much smaller proportion, as CO2 extract is stronger, of higher quality and has a significantly longer shelf life. The plant extracts do not undergo thermal degradation in this extraction process, as is the case in the steam distillation process.

CO2 extraction makes it possible to create two types of extracts, called Selects and Totals, depending on the pressure.

CO₂-se (Selective) extracts are a type of CO₂ extract in which the extraction conditions (pressure and temperature) are optimized to selectively extract certain constituents from the plant material, while leaving the others. This method allows precise targeting of the desired bioactive compounds while minimizing unwanted substances such as waxes, chlorophyll or heavy lipids.

Consumption: 25-50 kg mint leaves(Mentha piperita) per 1 kg CO2 extract

Ingredients:
100% Mint CO2-se extract

70-90% essential oil, 20-40% menthol, 20-40% menthone, 2-14% menthyl acetate, <3% menthofuran

Use:
Peppermintleaf extract is often used in cosmetics, especially in oral hygiene and dental care products, due to its distinctive aroma. The oil has a fresh minty scent with a cooling effect.
