Do you want to make instagram-perfect ombré soaps too? We bring you a simple tutorial on how to achieve the desired ombré effect when using soap masses. Try making ombré soaps for yourself or as a gift and be surprised by the gorgeous result.
To make ombré soap you need soap mass, a combination of translucent layers that will be coloured with mica powder and a white layer that will make the individual colours stand out better. You can choose the mica powders according to your own imagination, try different combinations of colours and scents to make ombré soap exactly according to your taste.The amount of soap mass in the table is converted to one oval soap bar made in the form shown.
Below you will find tips to help you in making ombré soap. The soap mass can be heated in a water bath in addition to the microwave, the whole process will take longer, on the other hand, you don't have to worry about the soap quickly boiling and boiling off, as can easily happenin the microwave. If your soap has hardened during the making process, don't despair, you can still melt it again, either in a water bath or in the microwave.When making larger quantities of soap, multiply the weight by the number of individual soap bars you want to make. However, the quantities given are only for the form we have chosen. If you choose a different mould, you will need to recalculate the amount of soap mass, the coloured layers should be the same weight and there should be enough white mass to cover the entire surface area of the soap.Moulds with smooth bottoms are suitable for production. If the bottom contains embossing or other protrusions this may distort the ombré effect of the soap.Soap mass consumption also depends on how much you line the edge of the mould. The more tilted the mould, the more soap mass you will use to cover ¾ of the bottom of the mould. The quantities of soap mass, colorants and fragrance needed are in grams and not percentages just so that you maintain the correct proportion of ingredients to create the desired look of the soap. The weights are based on the mould we have used, if you change the mould you will need different amounts of soap mass, however you can keep the ratios as long as you do not change the thickness of the layers.

The advantage is that it provides a non-dewy soap, i.e. your soap won't get covered in dew droplets after standing for long periods of time. Another advantage is that the soap dries more slowly, however, if you want to store the ombré soaps you make for longer, wrap them in cellophane to prevent the soap from drying or saggingdue to loss of water.ZENIOSOAPBASE Pro-W is a great soap mass for larger projects because, in addition to protecting against dew, it solidifies faster than types of soap masses designed for more challenging design creations. This allows you to have your soap finished faster. The above soap masses can be substituted for other soap masses, but always choose a combination of translucent for the colored layers and white to finish the soap.
Mica powders have been chosen to colour the jendotint layers of the soap. The instructions show the exact shades we used for each colour combination. These are the yellow shade Bonny buttercup, the pink Frosty rose petal, the blue Deep ocean blue, the purple Soft amethyst and the green Lime. The range of mica powders is really wide, so feel free to use your imagination and combine your favourite shades. The dosage is also variable in this case , you can add more mica powder after the soap has melted until you reach the desired shade.An alternative to mica powders are soap colorants, such as ZENICOLOR, which combine well with that brand of soap. These dyes can also be used in other soap masses, but you may not get exactly the same shades as the manufacturer states.
Bambo & Green tea fragrance oil was chosen to scent the soap, combining the floral scent of peony with the sweet scent of apple. However, there is a really wide range of different fragrance oils available to you, which you can combine at will to create an ombré soap exactly to your liking. For example, you can choose a different fragrance oil for each layer of soap or leave the soap unscented.Substitute essential oils for fragrance oils, but some dark coloured essential oils may affect the final colour of the soap.
Bubble remover or isopropyl alcohol is a substance that performs two functions in the manufacture of soaps from soap solids. The first is that it helps to remove bubbles and foam from the surface of freshly poured soap. Therefore, it is necessary to spray each layer immediately after pouring while it is still liquid, otherwise the bubbles will not be removed.Each layer is then sprayed after it has set, just before the next layer is poured. It is the IPA that ensures that the layers adhere better to each other.
As mentioned, you can experiment with homemade recipes to achieve the desired properties. However, many factors such as humidity, temperature, quality of ingredients and storage can affect the final result. Before using any raw material to make a cosmetic product, familiarize yourself with its properties, recommended dosage, storage conditions or safe handling. Any raw material may have the potential to cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals, so before using a product, we recommend that you find out if you suffer from an allergy to any of the raw materials or the overall product, e.g. by a skin test.
