PCA Glyceryl Oleate is a natural hair and skin conditioner made from vegetable glycerin, oleic acid and PCA (pyrrolidone carboxylic acid), which occurs naturally in the skin. Thanks to its specific molecular structure, it acquires a natural cationic charge at normal pH, which allows it to bind effectively to both hair and skin. The oleic acid in the molecule is identical to the lipids naturally occurring in the hair fiber, and therefore restores the protective layer that is lost through washing or exposure to UV radiation, oxidative stress or pollution. On the surface of the hair it forms a fine hydrophobic film, which improves combability, reduces frizz and provides the hair with a smooth, velvety feel – all without the use of silicones or quaternary ammonium compounds (quats). The raw material is also approved for natural cosmetics.

Use in formulation:

PCA Glyceryl Oleate is used at concentrations of 0.5–2 %. It is oily-liquid, fat-soluble, stable at pH 3–8 and compatible with all common surfactants. It is recommended to add it to the oil phase or after emulsification, or into the surfactants, ideally at a temperature of up to 60 degrees Celsius. In cleansing products, it helps reduce irritation caused by surfactants, softens the foam and increases comfort during use.
