Product description

A brown plastic bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a matte white flip-top cap is a ready-to-use set for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products dispensed by squeezing the bottle. Suitable for shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners, body lotions, and massage oils. The bottle is made of PET, which is lightweight and shatterproof, making it ideal for the shower, bathroom, and travel bag.

Brown colouring limits light penetration to the contents. This is an advantage for formulations containing vegetable oils, extracts, or fragrance components that change colour and scent more quickly when exposed to light. The cap opens with one hand by flipping the lid, and snapping it shut closes the dispensing opening again.

How the set dispenses and seals

The flip-top cap has a small dispensing opening through which the product is pushed out by gently squeezing the bottle. The amount can therefore be controlled easily.

  • Liquid and medium-viscosity products – shampoo, shower gel, liquid soap, or body lotion flow out smoothly and the dose is easy to gauge.
  • Thin liquids – a toner or thin oil flows through the opening quickly and requires more careful squeezing to control the dose.
  • Thick creams and butters – these pass through the small opening with difficulty and residue tends to cling to the walls. A jar is a more suitable option for them.

The bottle is sealed by the cap screwed onto the neck and the snapped-shut lid that closes the dispensing opening. Before transport it is worth checking that the cap is tightened and the lid snapped fully into place.

Before filling an entire batch, we recommend testing one bottle with the specific formulation. This will show whether the product flows at a suitable rate and whether the set seals properly when laid on its side.

Which products it is suitable for

The 100 ml capacity is practical for smaller packaging, sample sizes of larger products, and travel versions of hair and body cosmetics. The brown bottle is particularly suited to:

  • Rinse-off hair and body cosmetics – shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, and liquid soaps, where a shatterproof container is appreciated in the shower.
  • Body, massage, and cleansing oils – dispensed into the palm in small amounts, with the brown bottle protecting them from light.
  • Body lotions and light emulsions – thinner emulsions that can be squeezed out of the bottle without leaving residue.
  • Cleansing gels – products where a small dose squeezed directly into the palm is sufficient.

Nominal and total volume

Two volumes are listed in the parameters. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under standard filling conditions. The total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between them is the allowance for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

What is worth knowing before filling

  • Preparation – before first filling, the bottle and cap are washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and left to dry completely.
  • Intended use – the set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not intended for food use.
  • Compatibility with contents – the bottle should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals. With a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, it is advisable to verify the behaviour of the packaging with a test sample.
  • Labelling – the dimensions needed for label design are listed in the bottle parameters. Labels adhere better to a dry, degreased surface.
  • Alternative closure – closures with the same neck type (stated in the parameters) and further ready-to-use combinations are available in the Handymade range.

PET deforms under heat. Products manufactured hot-process are filled only after cooling, and the bottle must not be sterilised by boiling or hot air.

Frequently asked questions

Does a brown plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the brown colouring of the bottle limits light penetration to the contents. It slows colour and scent changes in oils, extracts, and fragrance components that are sensitive to light. However, it does not guarantee complete protection. Stability is also affected by heat, air exposure, and the formulation itself, so it is worth keeping sensitive products out of direct sunlight.
Is a brown plastic bottle with a flip-top cap suitable for products containing essential oils?
Standard cosmetic products containing essential oils can be filled into the bottle; the set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Caution is warranted with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, which may gradually degrade the plastic. In such cases we recommend leaving a test sample in the bottle for several weeks and checking the shape of the packaging, the seal, and the scent of the contents.
Can hot product be filled into a 100 ml brown plastic bottle?
No, hot-filling is not recommended for a PET plastic bottle, as the material deforms under heat. Shampoos, emulsions, and oils processed hot should only be filled after cooling. For the same reason, the bottle should not be placed in boiling water or hot air, and once filled it should not be left near a heat source or in direct sunlight.
Can a plastic bottle with a flip-top cap be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and cap can be refilled after thorough cleaning. They are washed with warm water and detergent, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and left to dry completely. The dispensing opening and the lid hinge require particular attention, as product residue tends to linger there the longest. A scratched or deformed bottle is better discarded.
Can a closure other than the flip-top be fitted to the 100 ml brown plastic bottle?
Yes, any closure with the same neck type as stated in the parameters will fit the bottle. For thin liquids a spray pump may be more practical, while for thicker emulsions a lotion pump is a better choice. With a custom combination it is advisable to verify the seal and dispensing behaviour with the specific product, as performance depends on its viscosity.
