Product description

A clear 100 ml plastic bottle with a matte white flip-top cap is a ready-to-use packaging and closure combination for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products dispensed by squeezing the bottle. When opened, the cap stays attached to the bottle so it cannot be lost. Clear PET is lightweight and shatter-resistant, making it suitable for the bathroom, shower, and travel.

The set is particularly suitable for shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, and liquid soaps — products that flow through the narrow cap opening with gentle pressure. Both the bottle and cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is intended for cosmetics, not for food.

How to use the set

  • Squeeze dispensing – contents are pressed out through the small opening in the cap. The amount dispensed can be easily controlled with both thin and medium-viscosity textures.
  • One-handed opening – the cap flips open with the thumb and closes with a click, which customers particularly appreciate in the shower.
  • Visible contents – the transparent wall shows the colour, clarity, and remaining amount of the product. With coloured gels or two-phase formulations, this is part of the product's appearance.
  • Low weight – the lightweight packaging is practical for travel-size products.

Suitable textures

The flip-top cap works best with flowable products: gels and emulsions with low to medium viscosity, and liquid cleansing formulations. Very thick creams and butters are difficult to press through the opening and some content remains in the bottle, making a jar a better choice for them. Very thin liquids such as tonics or hydrolats can be dispensed drop by drop or in a thin stream. With stronger pressure they tend to squirt, however, so a spray pump is more convenient for those.

A clear bottle does not protect contents from light. Products with light-sensitive ingredients — such as vegetable oils prone to oxidation, natural colorants, or formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils — should be stored away from direct sunlight or packaged in an opaque container.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling conditions. Total brim-full volume is slightly larger — it is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference provides a safety margin for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle may push contents through the closure when capping or in heat.

Good to know

Preparation before filling. It is advisable to wash and disinfect both the bottle and cap before first use and allow them to dry completely. Residual water in the bottle increases microbiological risk, especially in products with weaker preservation.

Filling temperature. The bottle must be protected from heat. The product should be filled only after it has cooled to near room temperature.

For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, solvents, or concentrated alcohol, we recommend filling one test bottle and monitoring it for several weeks to check for any changes in the shape and clarity of the packaging, the scent of the contents, and the seal of the cap.

Labelling. Self-adhesive labels should be applied to a dry and degreased surface. The bottle dimensions needed for label design are listed in the product parameters.

Other closures. Closures with the same neck type as specified in the product parameters, as well as other ready-to-use combinations, are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing behaviour, and compatibility of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Recycling. Both the bottle and the cap are plastic and should be placed in sorted plastic waste after emptying.

Frequently asked questions

What products is the 100 ml plastic bottle with a flip-top cap suitable for?
It is primarily suitable for liquid and medium-viscosity cosmetic products such as shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, liquid soaps, and body lotions. Contents are dispensed by squeezing the bottle through the small opening in the cap. For very thick creams and butters a jar is more appropriate; for very thin liquids, a spray pump. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics and is not intended for food.
Does the clear plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. The advantage is that the colour and quantity of the product are visible. A bottle containing a light-sensitive formulation should be kept in a shaded spot, such as a cabinet. If the product will be stored in a sunny location, an opaque container is a better choice.
Can the plastic PET bottle be filled with a hot product?
No, hot-filling is not recommended for PET bottles, as the material may deform under heat. The product must be allowed to cool to near room temperature before filling. For the same reason, the bottle should not be boiled or sterilised with hot water. Isopropyl alcohol or ethanol should be used for disinfection prior to filling.
Is the plastic bottle with a flip-top cap suitable for products containing essential oils or alcohol?
At typical cosmetic usage levels of essential oils and in water-based products, the PET bottle is used without issue. At high concentrations of essential oils, solvents, or concentrated alcohol, the plastic may react over time. We therefore recommend a test fill followed by several weeks of monitoring the shape of the bottle, the seal of the cap, and the scent of the contents.
Can the plastic bottle with a flip-top cap be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and cap can be refilled after thorough washing, disinfection, and drying — ideally with the same type of product. Special attention should be paid to the cap opening and hinge, where product residue can accumulate. If the plastic is scratched, cloudy, or the cap no longer clicks shut securely, it is better to use a new container.
