The number of rattan sticks affects the intensity and speed of fragrance release. Usually, a smaller number of sticks is used for a gentle, long-term fragrance effect and a larger number for a more intensive fragrance in a shorter time. We recommend starting with a smaller number of sticks, monitoring the diffuser for several days and, as needed, gradually adding or removing sticks in order to achieve the desired intensity.

By turning the sticks, you restore the contact of the saturated part with the ambient air and temporarily increase the intensity of the fragrance. Typically, the sticks are turned once every few days or as needed, for example before guests arrive. If you notice that the fragrance is persistently weaker even with a full refill, or the sticks are significantly discoloured or soiled, it is advisable to replace them with new ones for optimal diffuser performance.

Rattan sticks are designed to work with the most commonly used types of diffuser refills, such as special bases for reed diffusers, perfume concentrates intended for this purpose and selected essential oils in the recommended dilution. For new or own formulations, we recommend first testing a smaller amount of refill and verifying how quickly the sticks absorb and release it, so that you can set the correct raw material ratio and the expected lifetime of the diffuser.

Place the diffuser on a stable, flat surface out of the reach of children and pets, ideally in a place where there is no risk of it being knocked over or coming into contact with textiles. When handling the sticks, it is recommended to protect the surface under the diffuser, because the concentrated fragrance refill may leave stains. Do not apply fragrance blends or essential oils directly to the skin, mucous membranes or food and always follow the safety recommendations for the specific type of refill used.

From a hygiene and functional point of view, it is recommended to use new rattan sticks for each new fragrance or new refill. After longer use, the sticks are saturated with the original fragrance and even when trying to clean them, aromas may mix and the efficiency of the diffuser may be reduced. If you decide to reuse the diffuser container, it must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before refilling, for example using products such as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based, and only then refilled with fresh refill and new sticks.

We do not recommend using used rattan sticks further in new fragrance compositions, because they remain saturated with the original blend. After you finish using them, let them drip off and dry on a non-combustible surface and then you can throw them into mixed waste according to local waste management rules. The diffuser bottle itself should be thoroughly cleaned, possibly disinfected, and either reused or placed in the appropriate separate collection according to the packaging material specified in the product parameters on the website.
