Product description

A clear round plastic bottle with a black pump dispenser, 150 ml, is a ready-made set for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products dispensed by pressing: body lotions, light creams, liquid soaps, shampoos, shower gels, or hand cleansing gels. The PET bottle is lightweight and shatterproof, making it suitable for both the bathroom and travel. The transparent material lets you see the colour and the remaining contents. The black pump dispenser with a 24/410 thread fits directly onto the bottle neck, so the set only needs to be filled to be ready for use.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the pump dispenser holds a food-contact certificate for direct contact with food; the bottle does not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics, not food use.

Why choose this set

  • Hygienic dispensing – contents are released only by pressing the pump; the bottle is never touched with fingers. This preserves the preservative system and keeps the product clean during everyday use.
  • Measured dose – one press releases approximately 1 ml. Dispensing body lotion or liquid soap is consistent and the product is not wasted.
  • Visible contents – clear PET shows the colour of the formulation and how much product remains, and will not shatter if dropped on tiles.
  • Easy labelling – the smooth cylindrical bottle allows a label to be applied around the full circumference.

Which products is it suitable for

The pump works best with contents that flow freely or have the consistency of a light to medium emulsion. This includes body and face lotions, light moisturising creams, liquid hand soaps, shampoos, shower gels, lower-viscosity conditioners, and cleansing emulsions.

Less suitable for thick massage creams, butters, scrubs with solid particles, and products with flakes or seeds that could clog the pump valve. For these formulations, a jar or a wide-neck bottle is more appropriate.

With liquid oils and very thin tonics, the pump works, but thin contents may continue to drip from the spout after pressing. For oils we recommend testing the behaviour with a small sample and considering whether a dropper might be more suitable for the product in question.

The pump dip tube is supplied longer so it can be used with bottles of different heights. Before fitting for the first time, cut it so it reaches just above the bottom of the bottle without bending. A tube that is too long will kink inside the bottle and the pump will not draw.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total volume up to the rim of the neck is slightly larger. The difference accounts for the dip tube and pump body, which displace some contents upwards when screwed on, and for the expansion of the formulation with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim; otherwise the contents will overflow through the thread when the pump is fitted.

What is useful to know when working with the set

  • Light – clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Products sensitive to light, such as formulations with unstable plant oils, vitamin C, or certain botanical extracts, are better filled into amber or blue packaging, or the set should be stored away from direct sunlight and the user informed accordingly.
  • Material and contents – PET and PP are a common choice for aqueous and emulsion-based cosmetic systems. For anhydrous products with a high proportion of essential oils, limonene, or other solvents, we recommend verifying compatibility with a test fill and monitoring the packaging for several weeks.
  • Heat – PET is not designed for filling with hot contents. Fill emulsions and gels only after they have cooled to prevent the bottle from deforming and the pump from losing its seal.
  • Tightness – tighten the pump by hand, without tools. Transport the finished product in an upright position to prevent contents from settling in the pump head.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made from PET and the pump from PP. Separate them before disposal and place each component in plastic recycling.

The bottle has a neck with a 24/410 thread. If the set with the pump does not suit a particular product, closures with the same thread type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the packaging with the formulation in question.

Before the first fill, wash both the bottle and the pump with warm water, rinse with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the dip tube or pump body would dilute the first doses of product and could stress the preservative system.

Repeated use and cleaning

The set can be used multiple times. The bottle simply needs to be washed and disinfected as at the first fill. The pump requires more attention, as product residue remains inside the mechanism. Pump through it with warm water and a mild cleaning agent, then clean water, and finally ethanol, and allow it to dry in a disassembled state. If dried cream or gel has settled in the mechanism, the pump may lose its draw. In that case it is better to replace it with a new one; the bottle continues to serve.

Frequently asked questions

Does the clear 150 ml plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET does not block light. The advantage of the transparent material is that you can see the contents and how much remains. Products sensitive to light, such as those with unstable plant oils or vitamin C, are better filled into amber or blue packaging, or the set should be stored in a cabinet away from direct sunlight.
Which products is the 24/410 plastic pump suitable for?
The pump is suitable for liquid and light to medium-viscosity products: body lotions, light creams, liquid soaps, shampoos, shower gels, and hand cleansing gels. One press releases approximately 1 ml. Thick butters, scrubs with particles, and products with flakes can clog the mechanism. For these, a jar or a wide-neck bottle is more appropriate.
How much product fits in the 150 ml bottle with pump?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 150 ml, not to the rim. The total volume up to the rim is slightly larger. The difference is the allowance for the dip tube and pump body, which displace some contents upwards when fitted, and for the expansion of the formulation with temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the rim, the contents will overflow through the thread when screwing on the pump.
Is the bottle and pump set suitable for food or household oils?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the pump dispenser holds a food-contact certificate; the clear PET bottle in this set does not. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products and is intended for that use.
Can the plastic bottle with pump be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the pump can be reused after cleaning. The bottle simply needs to be washed, rinsed with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and allowed to dry. The pump needs to have warm water with a cleaning agent pumped through it, followed by clean water and ethanol. If the pump draws poorly after cleaning, replace it with a new one; the bottle can continue to be used.
Can the PET bottle withstand products with essential oils or alcohol?
For standard cosmetic formulations with an aqueous or emulsion base, both PET and PP are used as standard. For anhydrous products with a high proportion of essential oils, limonene, or other solvents, we recommend verifying compatibility with a test fill of a small quantity and monitoring the packaging for several weeks.
