Product description

Organic rosemary CO₂ extract is a natural antioxidant extract from the leaves of Salvia rosmarinus (rosemary, medicinal rosemary), obtained by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction using a small amount of organic ethanol as a co-solvent. This extract is standardized with organic sunflower oil and comes from organic farming. It has a dark brown, viscous consistency, a delicate scent and excellent antioxidant properties thanks to its content of carnosic acid and carnosol (min. 10 % carnosic acid). Due to its strong protective effect against lipid oxidation, it is used as a natural antioxidant in both cosmetics and food applications.

Type of extraction: Supercritical CO₂ extraction with organic ethanol
D/E ratio: 5–7 kg of dried rosemary leaves per 1 kg of extract

FAQ

What is rosemary CO₂ extract used for in cosmetics?

Thanks to its content of carnosic acid and carnosol, it acts as a powerful antioxidant that protects oils and emulsions against oxidation and helps prevent skin ageing. It is suitable for anti-age cosmetics, ointments and natural balms.

Can rosemary extract affect the scent of the product?

No, at low concentrations (up to 0,3 %) its scent is very delicate and does not affect the scent or colour of the cosmetic product.

How do CO₂ extracts protect cosmetic products?

CO₂ extracts, such as this rosemary extract, act as natural antioxidants – they stabilise oils and prevent their rancidity and oxidation. In this way, they improve the shelf life and quality of the final product without the need for synthetic stabilisers.
