Product description

Rosemary CO₂ Extract BIO is a natural antioxidant extract from the leaves of Salvia rosmarinus (rosemary), obtained by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction with a small amount of organic ethanol as an auxiliary solvent. This extract is standardized with organic sunflower oil and comes from organic farming. It has a dark brown, viscous consistency, a delicate aroma and excellent antioxidant properties due to its carnosic acid and carnosol content (min. 10% carnosic acid). Due to its strong protective effect against lipid oxidation, it is used as a natural antioxidant in cosmetics and food.

Extraction type: Supercritical carbon dioxide (CO₂) extraction with organic ethanol
D/E ratio: 5-7 kg of dried rosemary leaves per 1 kg of extract

FAQ

What is rosemary CO₂ extract used for in cosmetics?

Due to its carnosic acid and carnosol content, it acts as a powerful antioxidant that protects oils and emulsions from oxidation and helps prevent skin ageing. It is suitable for anti-age cosmetics, ointments and natural balms.

Can rosemary extract affect the scent of a product?

No, at low concentrations (up to 0.3%) its fragrance is very delicate and does not interfere with the scent or colour of the cosmetic product.

How do CO₂ extracts protect cosmetic products?

CO₂ extracts, such as rosemary extract, act as natural antioxidants - they stabilise oils, preventing them from yellowing and oxidation. They thus improve the durability and quality of the final product without the need for synthetic stabilisers.
