Product description

The glass jar with a glossy black closure represents an elegant and professional packaging solution suitable for various types of cosmetic formulations as well as artisan products. The dark glass helps reduce light transmission and thus better protects the sensitive contents, which you will appreciate especially with products prone to oxidation. In combination with a sealing lid, this jar creates a practical and representative container for filling creams, butters, balms or concentrated blends.

Possible uses

  • packaging of thicker face and body creams, lip balms, ointments and butters
  • storage of aromatherapeutic preparations, scented balms and solid perfumes
  • a practical jar for manicure and pedicure products (gels, masks, balms)
  • a container for cosmetic samples or smaller trial-size packs of products for customers
  • a vessel for DIY formulations – pilot batches, laboratory samples and small product series

Advantages of the packaging

  • Material stability – glass is chemically resistant, does not react with most cosmetic raw materials and is also suitable for formulations with a higher proportion of oils or active ingredients.
  • Better protection of the contents – dark glass reduces light reaching the contents of the jar, helping to maintain the stability of the product’s colour, fragrance and quality during storage.
  • Robust screw cap – the glossy black closure helps to limit fragrance loss and protects the contents from contamination and dust.
  • Professional appearance – the combination of dark glass and a glossy lid creates a luxurious impression suitable for artisan brands and small cosmetic ranges.
  • More ecological choice – with proper care, the glass jar can be reused multiple times or placed in the separate glass collection stream.

Combining with closures and dispensers

Combinations of containers and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test – checking the sealing, the suitability of the material for the specific formulation and the behaviour of the packaging during use (opening, handling, possible product leakage).

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are listed in the enclosed packaging quality certificate and in the product specifications.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Is this glass jar suitable for packaging greasy and oil-based cosmetic products?

Glass is generally a very stable packaging material that also tolerates formulations with a higher proportion of oils, butters or waxes very well. This jar is therefore suitable for packaging richer creams, body butters, balms and similar preparations. For new formulations, however, we always recommend making a trial fill and a short stress test to verify the behaviour of the product over time.

Can I reuse this jar for different products?

The jar can be reused provided that proper hygiene principles are followed. Before each new filling, the container must be thoroughly cleaned, any residues of the original product must be removed, and it must then be disinfected with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or 96% plant-based ethanol. After disinfection, allow the packaging to dry completely at room temperature and only then refill it.

How should I properly clean the glass jar before the next use?

First, mechanically remove any product residues using a spatula or paper towel. Then wash the jar in warm water with a suitable cleaning agent that is compatible with your production (without strong fragrance and colourants, if required). After thoroughly rinsing with clean water, dry the container and finally disinfect it with alcohol (e.g. IPA or ethanol). Allow the disinfectant solution to evaporate and store the jar closed until it is ready for the next filling.

How can I safely dispose of or recycle this packaging if I no longer wish to use it?

If you do not plan to reuse the jar, we recommend placing it in the appropriate separate collection stream according to the material specified in the product specifications. The glass vessel usually belongs in the glass container, and the closure, depending on its material, into the relevant sorted waste stream (plastic or another material, if indicated for the product). Before disposal, it is advisable to empty the packaging of any product residues and at least roughly rinse it, in order to reduce the load on the collection system and make recycling more efficient.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

When selecting a suitable bottle, jar or pot, we recommend using the advanced filter in the packaging material category. After clicking on the relevant category, you will find the filter at the top of the page, where you can refine your selection according to parameters such as neck finish, size, colour and material. In this way, you can quickly display only those containers that meet your technical and design requirements.

How should I store filled jars so that the product retains its quality for as long as possible?

Filled jars should be stored tightly closed, in a dry place, at a stable room temperature and away from direct sunlight or sources of heat. Avoid storage in environments with high humidity or with sudden temperature fluctuations. Dark glass already helps to protect the contents from light, but for sensitive formulations it may be advisable to store the jars in a closed cabinet or box to further improve product stability.
