Product description

The packaging material made from light soda (sodium carbonate) is particularly ideal as a functional filler, cleansing and stabilising component when preparing your own laundry, cleaning or household utility products, which you then fill into bottles, jars or containers. Thanks to its properties, it is suitable for loose and powder formulations, where it improves processing, flowability and user comfort when handling the final product.

Light calcined soda is used in practice as a part of home care products, where it helps to optimise the pH, facilitates cleaning and supports the stability of the mixture. In combination with a suitably chosen bottle, container or jar, it allows you to prepare home-made products with a professional appearance and a reliable, repeatable result.

Possible uses

  • as a cleansing and alkalising component in home-made washing powders, soap blends and universal cleaning products
  • for preparing dishwasher powders, abrasive cleaners or loose cleaning blends for the household
  • in combination with other loose raw materials when producing home-made odour absorbers or utility blends for packs with ventilation
  • for filling into practical containers – reclosable canisters, jars or bottles that make it easier to dose and store finished blends
  • as a processing aid when formulating home-made products, which you then fill into cosmetic or utility packaging according to the chosen method of use

Advantages of the packaging

  • Material stability – light calcined soda is stable when properly stored in a dry, closed container and can be stored well in various types of bottles or canisters.
  • Protection of the contents – in combination with quality packaging (for example a rigid container or a bottle with a reliable closure) it helps to maintain the constant quality of finished loose cleaning blends and reduces their moisture uptake.
  • Universal use – suitable as a universal cleansing and pH-adjusting component that can be used in various home care formulations and utility products intended to be filled into different types of packaging.
  • Practical dosing – the fine, light structure makes it easier to dose using spoons, measuring scoops or applicators, which you can store directly in the container or jar.

Combining with closures and dispensers

When preparing home-made powders, cleaning agents and other utility blends containing light calcined soda, we recommend choosing packaging that enables comfortable and safe dosing of the final product. For powder blends, reclosable containers and jars with sealing closures, or bottles with a wider opening that allow easy scooping, are particularly practical.

The raw material itself is usually combined with packaging according to the type of final product – for example, with containers for powder products, bottles for concentrated solutions or canisters for storing blends in larger volumes. The packaging and closure combinations that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test (sealing, dosing and behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation).

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are stated in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

How should I store light calcined soda correctly in home packaging?

It is recommended to use a well-sealed bottle, container or jar that protects the contents from moisture and direct contact with water. Store the packaging in a dry place, out of the reach of children and at a stable room temperature. This minimises caking and maintains good flowability of the powder.

Is it possible to reuse the packaging in which I store the soda?

The packaging can be reused if basic hygiene rules are observed. Before each refilling, the container must be thoroughly cleaned, rinsed and subsequently disinfected – for example using isopropyl alcohol IPA 99 % or plant-based ethanol Ethanol 96 % denatured. After completely drying, the packaging is ready for refilling.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

When selecting a suitable bottle, container or jar, we recommend using the advanced filter, which you will find at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant packaging category. In the advanced filter you can easily select the required parameters, such as the neck type, size, colour or packaging material. This will quickly display only those options that correspond to your intention and the type of product you are preparing.

What type of packaging is suitable for finished cleaning blends containing light calcined soda?

For loose cleaning blends, rigid containers and jars with a high-quality closure that minimises the ingress of moisture are particularly suitable. For liquid concentrates or solutions, you can choose bottles with a screw cap or practical dosing closures according to the preferred method of application. It is important that the packaging is chemically compatible with the entire formulation and allows comfortable dosing in normal household use.

How can I safely dispose of or recycle the packaging after the product has been used up?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend first emptying it and removing product residues in accordance with local rules for the disposal of chemicals and cleaning agents. Then follow the information about the material stated in the product parameters and sort the packaging into the appropriate container (for example plastic, glass or paper). Correct sorting according to the recycling symbol helps more efficient waste processing in the recycling system.
