Skin and hair care in winter - an overview of oils

Perfect nourishment for our skin and hair, which suffer due to adverse weather conditions.
Autumn, but especially winter, can leave a significant mark on your skin. Wind, cold, lack of sunlight not only due to shorter days, and on the other hand an overheated indoor environment and transitions from intense warmth to cold and back again – these are just a few factors that lead to dry, dehydrated facial skin, chapped lips or skin on the hands, while this weather is not beneficial for the hair either.
In order for our organism not to suffer during this period, it is necessary to nourish it, in addition to quality food, also from the outside.
SKIN AND HAIR CARE IN THE WINTER PERIOD – OVERVIEW OF OILS
We have prepared for you an overview of the very best
carrier oils
, which will perfectly nourish your skin and hair and protect them from undesirable weather effects.
Avocado oil
It provides extreme hydration and penetrates deeply into the skin. It offers intensive nourishment thanks to its high content of vitamins A, D and E. It contains up to 59 % oleic acid, which is excellent for dry or ageing skin because it penetrates the skin easily and replenishes lost moisture without clogging pores.
Argan oil
This liquid gold undoubtedly belongs on the list of the best oils for caring for skin stressed by winter, because it is rich in proteins that improve elasticity, firm the skin and balance sebum production. The rich, complex and unique chemical composition of argan oil restores the skin, helps soften wrinkles and protects against harmful weather conditions.
Jojoba oil
From a technical standpoint it is classified as a liquid wax, yet despite this status it is surprisingly non-greasy, hydrates excellently and leaves the feeling of silky and smooth skin; it even helps cleanse the pores. It is suitable in the case of skin problems and therefore excellent for protecting the skin.
Hemp oil
A nourishing and deeply hydrating oil that is quickly absorbed into the skin. It supports healing, softens and soothes extremely dry, irritated and itchy skin. It is rich in omega fatty acids, proteins and vitamins that nourish and improve the barrier function of the skin.
Macadamia oil
It contains up to 18 % palmitoleic acid, which is an essential fatty acid found in sebum. It helps not only to protect the skin from damage caused by winter weather, but also to moisturise dry skin, which makes it an excellent protective winter oil.
Rosehip oil
It is a powerful regenerator of skin cells, which also helps prevent premature skin ageing, softens wrinkles and, when applied regularly, helps stretch marks and scars to fade. Its hydrating and regenerating properties make this oil the best overnight treatment for your skin, helping to replace what the harsh winter weather has taken from your skin.
Coconut oil
An oil we cannot omit, as it is suitable for extremely sensitive skin. It has a high content of saturated fatty acids. It is also ideal for hair damaged and weakened by wind and cold weather. Thanks to its very low melting point (24 ̊C), it is suitable for winter balms.
You can add the oils to body oils, butters, creams, masks or apply them in a small amount (a few drops) regularly directly to the skin. However, it must be borne in mind that especially cold-pressed oils retain their natural colour.
