Product description

White TAED, sodium percarbonate activator, is an organic compound used as an oxygen bleaching activator in ecological laundry and cleaning formulations.
In practice, it is produced by chemical synthesis (acetylation of ethylenediamine), resulting in stable white granules intended for mixing into powder or tableted systems.
Its main role is to “start up” the effectiveness of sodium percarbonate already at lower temperatures – upon contact with water it promotes the formation of peracetic acid (peracetic acid), which significantly improves stain removal and the hygienic effect even for washes around 30–60 °C (compared to using percarbonate without an activator).
In products it is especially valued where you need strong chlorine-free bleaching and good results at lower temperatures, which reduces energy consumption. It is stated to be biodegradable.

Key benefits

  • Activates sodium percarbonate from approx. 30 °C – effective bleaching even at lower temperatures.
  • Higher bleaching and stain-removal performance compared to percarbonate used on its own.
  • Supports the hygienic effect – stronger oxidative forms (peracetic acid) are formed in the reaction mixture, suitable for laundry hygiene and cleaning.
  • Chlorine-free – suitable for ecologically oriented laundry and cleaning formulations.
  • Practical dosing – used at low percentages (typically around 5 % in relation to percarbonate).

Suitable for products such as

  • Laundry powders and DIY laundry mixtures (especially for white laundry or heavily soiled textiles).
  • Colour removers and stain removers based on oxygen bleaching.
  • Soaking mixtures (soaking powders) for curtains, towels, nappies.
  • Cleaning powders for kitchen/bathroom where you want an oxidative effect without chlorine.
  • Dishwasher powders or additional “booster” mixtures (in combination with percarbonate and other system components).

Use in formulation

  • Miscible with: powder components of laundry/cleaning mixtures; most commonly used in combination with sodium percarbonate.
  • Compatible with: common components of powder laundry systems (carbonates, zeolites, citrates, powder surfactants); effectiveness depends on temperature, dosage and the overall formulation.
  • Soluble in: only limited solubility in water – the stated solubility is approximately 0,2 g/L at 20 °C; in practice it acts as a solid component that reacts in the wash liquor.
  • Dosage (indicative): often about 5 % is added to sodium percarbonate (e.g. as an activator for the bleaching system).
  • Technological tip: for powder mixtures, mix dry and protect from moisture; for tablets, ensure low moisture content of the mixture so that the reactivity of the oxygen system is not reduced.

Safety and storage

  • When handling, it is recommended to use protective gloves and avoid inhaling dust.
  • Avoid contact with eyes; in case of contact, rinse with water.
  • Store in a tightly closed container, in a dry place, away from sources of moisture and heat.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

Is TAED a bleach on its own, or does it only work with percarbonate?

TAED is an activator – it makes the most sense in combination with sodium percarbonate, where it increases the effectiveness of oxygen bleaching, especially at lower temperatures.

Why is TAED often dosed only in small percentages?

It is a functional “trigger” component for percarbonate – a small percentage can significantly change the performance of the bleaching system, so the dosage is tuned more according to the target effectiveness and washing temperature than on the basis of “the more, the better”.

Can I use TAED also for coloured laundry?

Oxygen bleaching can affect some dyes and prints. For coloured laundry it is advisable to start with a lower dosage, avoid long soaking and make a test on a less visible area or on a similar fabric.

Why is low humidity during storage important for TAED?

Moisture can reduce the stability of the oxygen system in powder mixtures (especially if percarbonate is also included in the formulation). Dry storage helps to maintain the performance and free-flowing nature of the mixture.

How will TAED affect the “scent” of washing or cleaning?

TAED is a functional raw material without fragrance; the resulting perception depends on the entire formulation. In oxidative systems, some perfumes may be degraded, so the fragrance (if present) is usually chosen to be more resistant to oxidation or is dosed conservatively.
