Product description

A white glass pharmaceutical bottle with a matte silver dropper is intended for small volumes of liquid preparations that are dispensed drop by drop: face serums, oil blends, essential oil blends in a carrier oil, nail and cuticle oils, or alcohol tinctures. The 15 ml volume suits products with a higher share of active ingredients, where only a few drops are used per application, as well as samples and test batches. White glass is opaque, so the contents are not visible and direct light does not reach them.

The set consists of a bottle and a dropper with an 18/410 neck finish. Both parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is provided with the product. The set is not intended for food.

Suitable uses

  • Face and hair serums – the dropper takes up exactly the amount that is applied to the skin, and the rest stays in the bottle without contact with your fingers.
  • Oil blends and aromatherapy blends – the glass tube of the dropper is not affected by contact with oils or essential oils.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass withstands ethanol; with longer storage, check that the closure remains tight.
  • Samples and small batches – when testing a new recipe or preparing gift sets, there is no need to fill large packaging.

Dropper and dispensing

The dropper has a glass tube, a silicone squeeze part and a matte silver aluminium shell. The squeeze part draws the contents into the tube and, with gentle pressure, releases them in individual drops, so the dose can be counted and repeated. Thicker products, for example serums with a thickener, are drawn up more slowly and form larger drops. Take this into account when you determine the recommended dose. The length of the tube is matched to the height of the bottle so that it reaches the bottom and the remaining contents can also be taken up.

Before the first filling, fit the dropper on the empty bottle and check that the shell sits on the neck without play. If you combine it with a different bottle or a different closure, test the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging directly with your formulation.

Nominal volume and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube of the dropper, which displaces part of the volume, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle overflows when the dropper is fitted, and the contents get onto the thread, where they stick and make opening difficult.

After fitting the dropper, check that the contents do not reach above the lower edge of the shell. If they do, remove some of the contents, otherwise they will be pushed out through the thread during further use.

Good to know

  • Preparation before filling – wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let them dry completely. Residual water in the tube would dilute an anhydrous product.
  • Reuse – the glass can be used again after washing and disinfection. Rinse the squeeze part of the dropper thoroughly before the next filling, as residues of the previous oil may affect the scent of the new contents.
  • Glass and heat – do not fill the bottle with a hot phase and do not expose it to sudden changes in temperature. A sudden difference in temperature can crack the glass, so let the contents cool before filling.
  • Concentrated essential oils – the glass tube withstands them. Test the behaviour of the silicone and plastic parts of the dropper with undiluted essential oils on a sample before you fill the whole batch.
  • Closures – droppers, caps and other closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made sets, can be found in the Handymade range.
  • Recycling – the bottle belongs with glass. The dropper combines aluminium, plastic, silicone and glass, so separate it from the bottle before recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Does a white glass pharmaceutical bottle protect the contents from light?
White glass is opaque, so light does not fall directly on the contents. For oils and serums that are sensitive to light, this is an advantage over clear glass. However, the packaging does not replace correct storage. Keep filled bottles away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
How much should I pour into a 15 ml bottle with a dropper?
Fill to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the brim. The remaining space up to the neck serves as a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which displaces part of the volume once fitted, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. An overfilled bottle overflows onto the thread, and the dropper then does not seal properly.
Is a dropper with a glass tube suitable for essential oils?
The glass tube is suitable for essential oils, as the oils do not damage it and it does not absorb their scent. With undiluted essential oils, test the behaviour of the silicone squeeze part and the plastic parts of the dropper on a small sample. Long-term contact with concentrated oils may affect these materials.
Can the bottle with a dropper be used for water-based serums and tinctures?
Yes, glass is resistant to both water and ethanol, so it suits water-based serums as well as alcohol tinctures. For water-based products in a dropper bottle, use a preservative, because air gets into the bottle with every use. With tinctures, check whether the closure remains tight during longer storage.
How do I clean the pharmaceutical bottle and the dropper before reuse?
Wash both parts in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse them, disinfect them with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let them dry completely. Rinse the squeeze part of the dropper several times to remove oil residues. Before the next filling, check that the tube is not cracked and that the silicone part keeps its shape.
Which closure fits the 15 ml white glass pharmaceutical bottle?
The bottle takes closures with an 18/410 neck finish, as stated in the parameters. The dropper in this set has the same neck finish and a tube length matched to the height of the bottle. If you choose a different closure from the Handymade range, test the tightness and the dispensing directly with your product.
