Product description
The white glass pharmaceutical bottle with matte dropper, 15 ml, is a ready-made set of bottle and closure that you fill and from which you dispense directly, drop by drop. It is suitable for facial and oil serums, blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, concentrates of active ingredients, nail and cuticle oils, or small quantities of tinctures. The white glass conceals the contents and limits the access of light to the formulation, while the dropper takes exactly as much as you need. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; it is not declared suitable for contact with food.
How the set works
The bottle has the shape of a pharmaceutical bottle with a narrower neck and a thread onto which the dropper screws directly. The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a matte white plastic cap, so the packaging looks uniform. The tube reaches deep into the bottle, so you can draw out the contents almost to the bottom.
Dispensing by drops works best with liquid and low-viscosity formulations, such as oils, oil serums, thin gel serums or alcoholic extracts. Thick gels and creamy textures are difficult to draw into the tube and the drop does not form evenly. A different type of closure is more suitable for them.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 15 ml is the quantity the bottle is intended to hold when filled normally. The total brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper tube, which pushes part of the contents upwards when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Therefore, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The neck is narrow, so a small funnel or a syringe helps when filling from a beaker.
Leave some space below the neck when filling. An overfilled bottle overflows when the dropper is inserted, and the oil is left in the thread, where it becomes sticky over time.
What to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the packaging reduces the stability of the product.
- Reuse – the glass can be used again after washing. Clean the silicone bulb and the tube separately. If the bulb softens or loses its elasticity, replace it.
- Heat – do not fill hot formulations into the glass bottle, as a sudden change of temperature stresses the glass. Let the contents cool to at least room temperature.
- Demanding contents – with concentrated essential oils, solvents or very low pH, test the behaviour of the bulb and the tightness with your specific formulation beforehand.
- Other closures – closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations of bottle and closure, can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, check the tightness and the dispensing.
- Recycling – the bottle belongs in glass waste. The dropper is made of several materials, so before disposal take it apart into the glass tube, the silicone bulb and the plastic cap.
Store the bottle with the dropper upright. The dropper is not designed for transport lying on its side in a handbag or suitcase; when travelling, wrap the bottle in a self-sealing bag.
