Product description

The 10 ml glass bottle with dropper is designed for products that are dispensed drop by drop: face serums, oil blends for the face and nails, diluted essential oils, tinctures for cosmetic use or test batches of a new recipe. White glass conceals the contents and limits light exposure, so it also suits raw materials and active ingredients whose stability is reduced by light. The set consists of a white medicine bottle and a white and silver matte dropper, with a length adapted to the height of this bottle.

A small volume makes sense wherever only a few drops are used per day and a larger pack would be used up slowly. With concentrated serums and oils that have a shorter shelf life, the contents can be used up while they are still in good condition.

How the set works

The dropper has an aluminium shell in a matte silver shade, a white PP inner closure, a silicone bulb and a glass tube. When you squeeze the bulb, the contents are drawn into the tube and are then dispensed as individual drops. The glass of the tube and of the bottle body is non-reactive towards common cosmetic raw materials. During storage the contents come into contact almost exclusively with glass, meeting plastic only on the inner side of the closure.

Two volume values are distinguished. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal volume.

Fill the bottle to the nominal 10 ml at most and tighten the dropper by hand without using force. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents are pushed through the thread when the tube is inserted and the closure stops sealing.

What it is suitable for

  • Face and eye serums – a small amount is applied directly to the fingers or skin, and the hand does not touch the rest of the contents.
  • Oil blends and elixirs – the dropper also copes with thicker vegetable oils, and the dose is measured out drop by drop.
  • Diluted essential oils and aromatherapy blends – white glass dampens light, which is harmful to fragrances and sensitive ingredients.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass resists alcohol and does not affect the scent of the contents.
  • Samples and test batches – 10 ml is enough to verify a recipe or to make a sample for a customer.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Rinse the dropper tube by drawing in and squeezing out alcohol several times, otherwise water will remain in it.

Glass does not tolerate sudden changes of temperature. Let a hot oil phase or a freshly brewed infusion cool down before filling, and do not put the bottle straight from a cold environment into hot water.

The silicone bulb has a different resistance from glass. With undiluted essential oils, solvents or very acidic ingredients, we recommend checking how the dropper behaves with your formulation after several weeks. Store the bottle upright so that the contents are not in constant contact with the closure and the bulb.

Before shipping or travelling with a filled bottle, test the seal by turning it upside down. The dropper is meant for dispensing; for transport it is a good idea to pack the bottle in a bag as well.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. After washing, the packaging can be used repeatedly; just check that the bulb has not hardened and the tube is not cracked. You will find closures with the same neck type, as well as other ready-made combinations of bottle and closure, in the Handymade range; if you make your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing with your specific recipe. The glass bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper is made of several materials, so before discarding it separate the aluminium shell from the plastic and the glass tube.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white glass bottle with dropper protect the contents from light?
Yes, white glass conceals the contents and lets through significantly less light than clear glass. It is therefore suitable for oils, serums with active ingredients and essential oil blends, which spoil faster in light. However, the packaging does not protect the contents from heat or air, so keep the bottle tightly closed and away from direct sunlight.
How much actually fits into a 10 ml bottle with dropper?
The bottle is designed for 10 ml of contents, although somewhat more would fit to the brim. The reserve above the nominal volume is needed for the glass tube of the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when warm. If you fill to the brim, the contents are pushed out through the thread and the closure does not seal.
Can the glass bottle with dropper be washed and used again?
Yes, both the glass and the dropper can be used repeatedly after washing. Wash the bottle in warm water with washing-up liquid, disinfect it with alcohol and leave it to dry neck down. Rinse the dropper by drawing in and squeezing out alcohol, and do not soak the bulb for long. Greasy residues are loosened first by alcohol, and only then by water with washing-up liquid. Before the next filling, check that the bulb has not hardened and the tube is not cracked.
Is the dropper with a silicone bulb suitable for essential oils and tinctures?
The dropper is commonly used for essential oils diluted in a carrier oil and for alcohol tinctures for cosmetic use, as the contents mainly touch the glass. Undiluted essential oils and solvents may affect the silicone and the inner plastic of the closure over time, so we recommend verifying how the set behaves with your specific blend after several weeks.
Does a closure other than the dropper fit the 10 ml glass bottle?
Yes, the bottle has an 18/410 neck finish and can be closed with any closure of the same neck type, for example a cap for transport or another type of dropper. The dropper from this set has a length adapted to the height of this particular bottle; on a taller bottle with the same neck finish, the tube would not reach the bottom.
