Product description

The glass medicine bottle with treatment pump set with a capacity of 15 ml combines a small bottle made of white opaque glass with a plastic pump that dispenses a measured amount of oil with each press. White glass limits the light reaching the contents, so it suits ingredients and products sensitive to oxidation, especially vegetable oils and oil serums with active ingredients.

The small capacity suits face oils, cuticle oils, beard oils, samples and test batches. The set includes a clear overcap that covers the pump and prevents it from being pressed accidentally in a bag or on a shelf. Both the bottle and the pump have an 18/410 neck finish.

Suitable uses

  • Face oils and oil serums – the measured dose makes it easy to apply a small amount without spilling and without fingers touching the contents.
  • Oils for beard, eyebrows and cuticles – for small areas, one or two presses are enough.
  • Essential oil blends in a carrier oil – opaque glass slows the light-induced changes that show up in the fragrance and colour of these blends.
  • Samples and travel packs – the bottle takes up little space, and 15 ml is enough for several weeks of use.
  • Gift sets and presentation packs – white glass with a black pump looks cohesive even without further decoration.

Filling and dispensing

The nominal capacity of the bottle is 15 ml. This is the amount the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity listed in the parameters is larger, because it also includes the space up to the neck. This difference is a reserve for the tube and body of the pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill to the nominal capacity, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, oil leaks out through the neck when the pump is screwed on.

One press dispenses approximately 0.18 ml of oil. After filling the bottle and screwing on the pump, prime it by pressing it several times until the tube and head fill with oil. Only then does it dispense evenly.

The pump tube is supplied longer than the height of this bottle requires. Before fitting it, shorten it so that it reaches just to the bottom but does not bend. A kinked tube draws in air and the dispensing is uneven.

Thicker oils and butters in liquid form are dispensed more slowly, and the dose may be smaller than the stated value. For a specific formulation, we recommend testing how the pump draws up the given oil, especially at a lower room temperature.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump and the tube with the same alcohol and leave them to dry in the open air, not in the heat.

Glass withstands repeated washing and contact with essential oils and solvents. The plastic parts of the pump and the clear overcap made of polystyrene are more sensitive. With a high proportion of essential oils or when using solvents, we recommend checking in advance that the material does not turn matte, crack or change shape. The set is intended for oils and oil serums. For water-based or alcohol-based contents, the sealing and dispensing have not been verified, so their suitability must be tested separately.

The bottle and both plastic parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. The set is not approved for contact with food, so it is not suitable for edible oils or kitchen seasonings.

Do not expose the glass to sudden temperature changes, for example by filling a cold bottle with hot contents. Fill oil products once they have cooled to room temperature.

The bottle can be reused; once it is empty, rinse the pump and leave it to dry. At the end of its life, glass goes in glass recycling and plastic parts in plastic recycling; separate them from each other before disposal. You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you assemble your own set, we recommend checking the sealing and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does a white glass medicine bottle protect oil from light?
Yes, white glass is opaque and limits the light reaching the contents. For vegetable oils prone to oxidation, serums with vitamins or blends with essential oils, this is an advantage over clear glass, where the bottle has to be stored in the dark. Opacity also has a drawback: you cannot see from the outside how much oil is left in the bottle.
How much oil does the treatment pump dispense with one press?
One press dispenses approximately 0.18 ml of oil. The value applies to common free-flowing vegetable oils at room temperature. Thicker oils, such as castor oil, or blends with a higher proportion of butters are drawn up more slowly and the dose tends to be smaller, so we recommend measuring the amount for your specific product.
Why is the 15 ml glass medicine bottle not filled to the brim?
The medicine bottle is filled to the nominal capacity of 15 ml, because the remaining space up to the neck is a reserve for the tube, the body of the pump and the expansion of the oil when it warms up. If it is filled to the brim, the oil is pushed out through the neck when the pump is screwed on and soils the thread, which then does not seal.
Can the glass medicine bottle with treatment pump be reused?
Yes, both the glass and the pump can be emptied, rinsed and refilled. Wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry. Rinse the pump with alcohol by pumping it through several times, and leave it to dry in the open air. If it later dispenses unevenly or lets oil flow back, replace it with a new one with an 18/410 neck finish.
Is the treatment pump also suitable for water-based toners or alcohol tinctures?
The set is intended for oils and oil serums; for water-based and alcohol-based contents, its sealing and dispensing have not been verified. Water-based toners are also usually applied with a sprayer, not a pump. With tinctures containing a high proportion of ethanol, the plastic of the pump and the clear overcap may turn matte or change shape over time, so we recommend a different closure for such contents.
Can I fill the glass medicine bottle with treatment pump with edible oil?
No, the set is not approved for contact with food. The bottle and both plastic parts of the pump are declared suitable only for cosmetic products. For homemade cooking oils or herbal infusions intended for consumption, choose packaging that has a food-contact certificate listed in its parameters.
