Product description
Glass medicine bottle, white, with white matte dropper, 10 ml
A small glass medicine bottle with a volume of 10 ml and a ready-made dropper for oil serums, facial oils and concentrated products that are dispensed by the drop. White glass lets less light through to the contents than clear glass, so it also suits blends with essential oils and oils that are sensitive to light. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Neither the bottle nor the dropper has a food-contact certificate, so it is not recommended for homemade oils or syrups.
The dropper in a white matte finish has a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a plastic collar with an 18/410 neck finish. When you squeeze the bulb, it draws in the contents and releases them one drop at a time, so you can measure the exact amount for your skin or for a trial formulation.
Suitable uses
- Oil serums and facial oils – you fill the small bottle with only as much as can be used up in time, while the rest of the oil stays in its original packaging.
- Essential oil blends – the glass is resistant to them and the white colour limits light.
- Samples and test batches – you can try out a new formulation without having to make a larger quantity.
- Macerated oils and concentrates – dropwise dispensing suits anything that is added to a base or applied to a specific spot.
Filling and volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. Total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely.
The dropper screws directly onto the bottle and only needs to be tightened after filling. If you want to combine the bottle with a different closure, Handymade offers closures with the same neck type as well as other ready-made combinations. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Good to know
Glass tolerates heat, but the bulb of the dropper is silicone and the collar is plastic. Let the product cool to room temperature before fitting the dropper.
With undiluted essential oils and concentrated blends, check the dropper from time to time to see whether the bulb has softened or lost its elasticity. Replace it if necessary.
Water-based products, such as toners or hydrosols, can also be stored in a medicine bottle with a dropper. However, the dropper returns to the bottle together with air each time it is used, so make sure that water-based formulations have sufficient preservation.
When shipping finished products, we recommend closing the bottle with a solid cap with the same neck type and enclosing the dropper separately, or using additional protection against leakage.
After washing and disinfection, you can use the bottle repeatedly. The glass belongs in glass recycling, while the dropper consists of several materials, so separate it from the bottle before recycling.
