Product description
Plastic medicine bottle, amber, black and gold fine mist sprayer, 100 ml
The amber PET bottle with a fitted sprayer is a ready-made packaging solution for toners, hydrosols, facial and hair mists, air fresheners and alcohol solutions applied as a fine spray. The amber plastic filters light, so it is also suitable for contents with plant extracts, vitamins or essential oils, which are harmed by daylight. The bottle is lightweight and unbreakable, which you will appreciate in travel sizes, on a dressing table and when shipping parcels. The glossy black sprayer with a gold detail gives the packaging a darker, more elegant look, and you no longer need to worry about choosing a closure.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle itself also has a certificate for direct food contact, but the sprayer does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic and technical use and is not suitable for packaging food.
What the set consists of
- Bottle, medicine bottle 100 ml – medicine bottle shape with straight walls and a narrower neck, made of PET in an amber shade. Medicine bottle refers to the shape, not to the intended use of the packaging.
- Fine mist sprayer 18/415 – mechanical closure made of PP with an aluminium detail, glossy black with a gold stripe and a clear nozzle overcap. The dip tube reaches the bottom of the bottle, and the contents are drawn up by pressing the actuator.
- Thread – both parts have the same neck type, so the sprayer fits the bottle without adapters. If you want to use the bottle with a different closure, you will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
What it is suitable for
The sprayer works reliably with thin liquids. The best results come with water-based and alcohol solutions: facial toners, hydrosols, thermal and herbal mists, detangling hair sprays, fabric and room fresheners, and hand disinfectant solutions containing ethanol or isopropyl alcohol (IPA). The 100 ml volume corresponds to a standard toner pack that lasts several weeks of use.
The sprayer cannot handle thick serums, emulsions and milks: the nozzle clogs or the contents come out in a stream instead of a mist. Light oil blends, for example dry body oil sprays, work to a limited extent and depend on the specific oil. Before filling a larger number of bottles, we recommend testing the behaviour on one bottle.
Concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions and solvents can damage PET over the long term. The bottle is suitable for finished diluted products, but do not use it to store pure essential oils. For formulations with a higher proportion of fragrance ingredients, we recommend a real-time stability test of the packaging.
Nominal volume and filling
The 100 ml figure is the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. Physically, slightly more fits in up to the neck. The extra space serves as a reserve for the sprayer dip tube, for the air above the surface and for slight expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Therefore, fill up to the nominal volume. An overfilled bottle overflows when the sprayer is screwed on, and the contents get onto the thread, where they then turn sticky or dry out.
After filling and screwing on the sprayer, prime it by pressing the actuator several times until the dip tube and pump fill with liquid. Only then does the sprayer produce an even mist.
Good to know
- Preparation before the first filling – wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with ethanol or IPA and let them dry completely. Residual water in the dip tube would dilute the first sprays and, in preserved products, upset the preservative ratio.
- Heat – PET does not tolerate higher temperatures. Fill the contents once cooled to room temperature, never hot straight from the pot, and do not leave finished packs in a car in the sun. The amber shade protects only against light, not against heat.
- Reuse – the bottle withstands repeated filling, provided it is thoroughly cleaned between fillings and still seals well. After alcohol-based or strongly perfumed products, it is safer to fit a new sprayer.
- Visibility of the contents – through the amber plastic, the liquid level can only be seen against the light. The customer therefore cannot see the colour of the product, which usually does not matter for mists and toners, but keep it in mind for coloured products.
- Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and goes in plastic recycling. The sprayer combines plastic with metal parts, so unscrew it before recycling and dispose of it separately.
