Product description

The amber plastic medicine bottle with a capacity of 50 ml and a black and gold fine mist sprayer is a ready-to-use set for cosmetic products applied by spraying. Amber PET dampens light, so it suits hydrosols, facial toners and refreshing mists with light-sensitive ingredients. The bottle is lightweight and unbreakable, so you can safely put it in a handbag, take it travelling or pack it in a sports bag. The glossy black and gold collar of the sprayer gives the packaging a look that works well in a gift set or when selling under your own brand.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the set as a whole, with the sprayer, is intended for cosmetic use.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – thin water-based products applied by spraying onto the face or onto a cotton pad.
  • Refreshing face and body mists – for example a hydrosol with glycerine or light moisturising sprays without an oil phase.
  • Hair sprays – water-based or alcohol-based, without thickeners that would clog the sprayer.
  • Samples and travel sizes – eau de parfum or textile fragrances, where a small volume and unbreakable packaging are valued.

How the sprayer dispenses

Pressing the sprayer releases a small dose of fine mist that spreads evenly over the skin or hair. The sprayer works with thin liquids, that is water, hydrosols, alcohol solutions and toners with a viscosity close to water. Gels, lotions and oils do not pass through the nozzle properly. They come out in a stream or gradually clog it. The tube reaches all the way to the bottom, so almost the entire contents can be used. If the tube is too long for the bottle, shorten it with a diagonal cut before first use so that it touches the bottom and does not kink.

When filling, take into account the difference between nominal and total volume. The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference provides room for the tube and the body of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise liquid will overflow when you screw on the sprayer.

Before first filling, wash both the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. After disinfection, pump the sprayer several times with clean water so that no disinfectant remains in the tube.

Good to know

  • Essential oils in a water-based mist – solubilise them before adding them to the water phase, otherwise they float on the surface, do not spray evenly and settle in the nozzle.
  • Alcohol-based products – you can fill the bottle with toners and eau de parfum containing ethanol. For a formulation with a higher proportion of essential oils or with solvents, test how the bottle behaves on a smaller sample, because aggressive ingredients gradually damage plastic.
  • Heat – PET is not intended for filling with hot contents. Let the product cool to room temperature before filling.
  • Reuse – both the bottle and the sprayer can be washed after emptying and used again. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and pump it until clear water comes out of the nozzle. A strong fragrance may not be removed from the plastic completely, so it is better to use the packaging for the same type of product.
  • Other closure – closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and belongs with plastics. The sprayer combines plastic with an aluminium collar, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

Amber PET dampens light but does not block it completely. Keep products with light-sensitive ingredients out of direct sunlight even in this packaging.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 50 ml plastic medicine bottle with a sprayer suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the amber PET bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not have this certificate. The bottle and sprayer set is therefore intended for cosmetic products such as toners, hydrosols and refreshing mists.
Can the amber plastic medicine bottle with a sprayer be used for an oil serum?
No, the sprayer is designed for thin water-based and alcohol-based liquids. Oil comes out of the nozzle unevenly, in a stream, and gradually clogs it. For oil serums and oil blends, choose a bottle with a dropper or a pump, which dispense oil evenly.
Does amber PET protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber colour of the plastic dampens the passage of light and slows changes in light-sensitive ingredients. It is not a complete barrier, so store the product out of direct sunlight anyway. For hydrosols, toners and mists with plant extracts, amber packaging is a better choice than clear packaging.
How much liquid fits into a bottle with a nominal volume of 50 ml?
The bottle is designed to be filled up to the nominal volume of 50 ml. Physically, a little more fits up to the neck, but this space is a reserve for the tube and the body of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill the bottle to the brim, part of the contents will overflow when you screw on the sprayer.
Can I fill the PET medicine bottle with an alcohol-based toner or eau de parfum?
Yes, you can fill the bottle with toners and eau de parfum containing ethanol. Caution is advised with formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or with other solvents, which may gradually damage the plastic. In that case, we recommend filling one bottle first and checking after several weeks whether the packaging deforms or turns cloudy.
How do I clean the sprayer after emptying so that it can be used again?
Unscrew the sprayer, rinse it with warm water and pump clean water through it several times until no residue of the original contents comes out of the nozzle. Then leave it to air-dry. Before refilling, disinfect both the bottle and the sprayer with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and rinse them again with clean water.
