Product description

A brown glass bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a plastic spray pump in a glossy black and gold finish is designed for liquid cosmetic products applied by spraying. Brown glass blocks light, which is why it protects light-sensitive contents from changes in scent and colour. You receive the bottle and closure together as a complete set, so you don't need to search for a spray pump matching the neck type.

The complete set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass bottle itself additionally holds a food contact certificate; the spray pump does not, so the complete set is intended for cosmetics only.

What it's suitable for

  • Facial tonics and mists – water-based formulations with hydrolats and active ingredients that the spray pump disperses into a fine layer without hands touching the skin.
  • Hydrolats – rose, lavender or calendula water, for which brown glass helps resist light exposure.
  • Hair sprays and refreshers – light water-based or water-alcohol blends for hair and scalp.
  • Perfume and toilet waters – alcohol-based formulations for which glass is more suitable than plastic, and the dark packaging protects the fragrance composition.
  • Room and fabric fresheners – water-alcohol blends with fragrance oils for indoor use.

Spray pump and dosing

The spray pump screws onto the bottle neck and draws the contents through a dip tube that reaches all the way to the bottom. One press releases a dose of approximately 0.14 ml as a fine mist, making it suitable for products where even application of a thin layer matters. The head and collar are made of PP and aluminium, the visible part is black with a glossy gold trim that looks great with gift and presentation packaging.

The spray pump is designed for contents with low viscosity – water, hydrolats, tonics and alcohol solutions. Thick serums, gels or pure vegetable oils cannot be dispersed evenly by the mechanism; a pump dispenser or dropper is more suitable for such products. Shake two-phase tonics and other water-oil blends before use and test the spray pump after filling.

For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, test the spray pump behaviour on a small amount first.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total capacity to the brim is larger and corresponds to the physical interior of the bottle up to the neck. The difference provides clearance for the dip tube and the space below the closure. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim; otherwise, when screwing on the spray pump, some of the contents will be pushed out and the thread may not seal properly.

Before first use, wash the bottle, sanitise it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow it to dry completely. For the spray pump, simply rinse with clean water and press a few times empty to remove any remaining water from the dip tube.

What's good to know

Glass tolerates normal temperatures when filling tonics and hydrolats, but do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle. A sudden temperature change can damage the glass; allow the contents to cool to room temperature before filling.

The bottle can be used repeatedly. Once empty, wash and sanitise it in the same way as before the first filling; rinse the spray pump with water and allow it to dry. When changing the formulation, we recommend replacing the spray pump, as fragrance residues in the dip tube and mechanism cannot be removed completely.

Water-based products without a preservative have a limited shelf life even in a spray bottle. Although the spray pump reduces direct hand contact with the contents, air enters the bottle through the dip tube and valve, so preservation of water-based formulations remains essential.

When the bottle is empty, recycle it as glass. Unscrew the spray pump and sort it separately, as it consists of several materials.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, brown glass blocks light that accelerates the breakdown of fragrance components, plant extracts and certain active ingredients. It is therefore more suitable than clear glass for hydrolats, tonics and perfume waters. The packaging does not, however, replace storage away from direct sunlight.
Can oil be filled into a glass bottle with a spray pump?
No, pure vegetable oils and thick serums cannot be dispersed evenly by the spray pump and the mechanism may become clogged. It is suitable for water-based, alcohol-based and water-alcohol contents with low viscosity. A bottle with a pump dispenser or dropper is more appropriate for oils.
Why is the bottle filled to only 100 ml when it has a larger capacity?
The nominal volume of 100 ml corresponds to standard filling; the remaining space up to the neck is a reserve for the dip tube and the clearance below the closure. If filled to the brim, some of the contents would be pushed out when screwing on the spray pump and the thread might not seal properly.
Is the glass bottle with spray pump suitable for perfume water containing alcohol?
Yes, glass is a suitable material for alcohol-based formulations and the brown colour protects the fragrance composition from light. The spray pump has plastic components, so verify its behaviour with the specific blend on a small amount first, especially when the proportion of essential oils is high.
Can the bottle with spray pump be used repeatedly?
Yes, the glass bottle can be refilled after washing and sanitising with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Rinse the spray pump with clean water and allow it to dry. When changing the formulation, it is better to use a new spray pump so that fragrance residues and remaining components from the dip tube are not transferred to the new contents.
Is the complete glass bottle with spray pump set also suitable for food?
No, the complete set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products. Only the glass bottle individually holds a food contact certificate; the plastic spray pump has no such declaration. This complete set is therefore not intended for food use.
