Product description

The white plastic bottle with black disc top, 150 ml, combines a PET bottle with a 24/410 neck finish and a PP dispensing cap into ready-to-use packaging for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products. The disc top opens by pressing one side of the disc and the contents are dispensed by squeezing the bottle, so the set belongs mainly in the bathroom: for shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions or liquid soaps. The white body hides the contents, the black cap gives the packaging contrast, and the plastic bottle does not break when dropped.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct contact with food; the disc top cap does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

What it is suited for

  • Shower gels and liquid soaps – the disc top dispenses a portion with one squeeze and closes when the disc is pressed down, so the contents stay protected from water and dust.
  • Shampoos and conditioners – the 150 ml volume corresponds to a travel or trial pack. For thicker conditioners, we recommend testing whether the product flows smoothly through the disc opening.
  • Body and face lotions – lighter emulsions pass through the opening without problems; thick creams are less suitable for this type of closure.
  • Samples and test batches – the small volume lets you prepare several formulation variants without using much raw material.

How the set works

The disc top is a cap with a pivoting disc mounted in the centre. Pressing one side tilts the disc and uncovers the outlet opening; pressing the other side closes it again. The product is dispensed by squeezing the walls of the bottle, without a pump and without internal moving parts. With water-like liquids, such as toners or thin oils, expect the contents to run out even when the bottle is tilted only slightly. For this reason, this closure is better suited to products with a gel or lotion consistency.

The cap is screwed onto the bottle, and how tightly it seals depends on how firmly it is tightened and on the consistency of the contents. Before filling a whole batch, we recommend filling one set, closing it and leaving it lying on its side for a few days.

Adjust the consistency of the product so that the required dose comes out when the bottle is squeezed and the bottle returns to its original shape when the pressure is released. A formulation that is too thin drips, and one that is too thick is difficult to dispense through the disc.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 150 ml is the amount the bottle is designed to hold when filled normally. The total volume up to the rim of the neck is larger. The difference is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal volume, not up to the rim; otherwise the contents may overflow when the cap is screwed on or be pushed out the first time the bottle is squeezed.

Good to know

  • Preparation before filling – wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the bottle would dilute the contents.
  • Material and contents – the bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP. Both materials are commonly used for water-based and emulsion cosmetic products. Do not expose the packaging to aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend checking how the packaging behaves with the specific formulation.
  • Heat – protect the bottle from heat and do not fill it with hot contents. Let emulsions and gels cool to room temperature before filling.
  • Other closures – closures with the same 24/410 neck finish can be used on the bottle; you will find them in the Handymade range together with ready-made combinations. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with the specific product.
  • Reuse – after thorough washing and disinfection, the set can be filled again. The disc top is harder to clean with thick products, so rinse the disc mechanism with warm water immediately after emptying.
  • Recycling – the bottle belongs with PET plastics and the cap with PP. We recommend separating them before disposal.

The set is intended for cosmetics. The disc top cap does not have a certificate for contact with food, so do not use the set for edible oils, syrups or infusions, even though the bottle on its own has this certificate.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 150 ml plastic bottle with disc top suitable for shower gel?
Yes, shower gel is one of the most suitable uses for this set. The disc top dispenses the gel when the bottle is squeezed and closes when the disc is pressed down, so water does not get into the bottle in the shower. The gel should have a consistency that flows smoothly through the opening but does not run out on its own when the bottle is tilted.
Can I fill a disc top bottle with facial toner or a thin oil?
You can, but the disc top is not the best choice for water-like liquids. With a thin consistency, the contents run out even when the open bottle is tilted slightly, and dispensing is hard to control. For toners and thin oils, a fine mist sprayer or a dropper with the same 24/410 neck finish is more suitable.
Can I use the set for homemade oil or syrup in the kitchen?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the white bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the black disc top cap does not. The set with a disc top is therefore intended for cosmetics.
How much product actually fits into the 150 ml bottle?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 150 ml. Physically it holds more up to the rim of the neck, but this space serves as a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If it is filled to the rim, the contents overflow when the disc top is screwed on or when the bottle is squeezed for the first time.
How do I prepare a plastic bottle with a disc top before the first filling?
Wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. With the cap, pay attention to the disc opening, where water tends to collect. Fill only with a product that has cooled down, as the bottle is not intended for hot filling.
