The packaging is intended mainly for aqueous and mildly alcoholic solutions commonly used in cosmetics and household detergents. For higher alcohol concentrations or when using technical solvents, we always recommend testing the compatibility in advance – fill a small amount of product, observe the sealing, function of the spray pump and any changes of the plastic over several days. If you work with highly concentrated alcoholic disinfectant solutions, make sure that the formulation is suitable for the given type of plastic packaging and mechanism.

The packaging can be used repeatedly if handled correctly; however, we recommend following strict hygiene principles. Before each refilling, it is necessary to thoroughly clean both the bottle and the spray pump and then disinfect them with a suitable agent, for example using isopropyl alcohol IPA 99 % – isopropyl alcohol or plant-based ethanol Ethanol 96 % denatured. Only after the disinfectant has completely dried and ventilated is the packaging ready to be filled again, which minimises the risk of microbial contamination or residues of the previous product.

When maintaining the spray pump, it is important to prevent clogging of the nozzle by product residues. After the product has been used up, you can rinse the inside of the bottle with warm water and a mild non-aggressive detergent, pump clean water through the spray head several times and then carry out disinfection, for example using diluted alcohol, which you also pump through the mechanism. Afterwards, allow all parts to dry thoroughly at room temperature. Avoid using strongly abrasive cleaning agents and aggressive solvents that could damage the plastic or the sealing parts of the mechanism.

If you decide not to use the packaging any further, we recommend that after emptying and basic rinsing you direct it to recycling according to the type of plastic stated in the parameter table for the product on the Handymade website. Based on this information, choose the appropriate sorting container in your town or village. Before placing it in sorted waste, it is advisable to remove any remaining product from the packaging and, if necessary, separate the individual parts (for example the bottle body and the spray pump), if required by local recycling rules. In this way, you support efficient processing of the material and reduce the amount of mixed waste.
