White plastic bottle with spray pump 100 ml is a ready-made set for liquid cosmetic spray products. The bottle with a 24/410 neck finish and the mechanical spray pump with a white smooth collar fit together — just fill and close. The opaque wall limits light exposure to the contents, and the lightweight plastic is suitable for the bathroom, travel or a handbag. The volume corresponds to typical packaging for facial toner, hydrosol, hair mist, refreshing body spray or cleansing solution.

Nominal and total volume

Packaging distinguishes between nominal volume and total volume to the brim. Nominal volume is the volume the container is designed for during standard filling. Total volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them creates a reserve for the spray pump tube and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, part of the contents will be pushed out when the spray pump is screwed on and the container may leak.

What contents is the set suitable for

The mechanical spray pump works reliably with thin, watery liquids. Best results are achieved with hydrosols, facial toners, hair mists, refreshing body sprays and brush or tool cleaning solutions. Aqueous solutions containing glycerin or solubilised essential oils spray without problems.

Oils, oil serums and thicker emulsions are not suitable for this set. The mechanism draws them up with difficulty, producing a stream or drops instead of a mist, and the nozzle gradually clogs. For products with a higher alcohol content or with undiluted essential oils, it is recommended to verify the behaviour of the container with the specific formulation, as plastic may change its properties on prolonged contact with such ingredients.

The spray pump tube is longer than the bottle and should reach just above the bottom. If it bends after screwing on, shorten it with a sharp knife at an angle. The first few presses serve to draw liquid into the mechanism; a uniform mist forms only after that.

What to know before filling

Before first use, the bottle is washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. The spray pump is rinsed by spraying clean water or ethanol through it and letting the mechanism empty out. A clean and dry container is the foundation for maintaining the microbiological quality of the filled product.

PET bottles must not be filled with hot contents. The formulation should be left to cool to room temperature before filling, as heat deforms the container wall.
