A wooden wick with a crackling effect designed for making container candles where the burn is meant to be accompanied by a gentle crackling reminiscent of a fireplace. The pack contains 100 wicks with metal sustainer tabs, making it suitable for smaller or repeated production runs.

The wick consists of a single certified wood veneer. The manufacturer states it is natural, allergen-free, and biodegradable. The metal sustainer holds the wick upright on the bottom of the container, so there is no need to source a separate holder.

Use in candle making

Insert the wick into the sustainer, secure the sustainer to the centre of the container bottom, and then pour the wax. The sustainer keeps the wick upright, so there is no need to carefully centre it during pouring.

Wick length is adjusted to the height of the container. A 127 mm wick is trimmed to the candle surface level once the wax has set.

How to choose the right combination

Wick behaviour always depends on the full setup: the type of wax, container diameter, fragrance oil load, and dye content. The same wick can burn cleanly in one wax and too strongly or too weakly in another. Suitability for a specific candle must therefore be confirmed through a test burn.

During the test, check whether the wax pool reaches the edge of the container, whether the flame is not too high, whether the wick produces no soot, and whether the container does not overheat.

The test burn should be carried out with the finished formulation, including fragrance and dye. Both components affect combustion, and results from a test with unscented, undyed wax may differ.
