100× Wooden wick, .04 crackling, 12.7 mmDrevený knôt, .04 praskajúci, 12,7 mm ZASOBAProduct description
A wooden wick with a metal sustainer tab is designed for making container candles that offer not only light but also a soft crackling sound while burning. It belongs to the single-ply crackling wick series. The pack contains 100 wicks with sustainers, making it suitable for repeat production in small batches as well as for testing your own recipes.
The wick is made from wood sourced in the USA. According to the manufacturer, it uses certified wood; the wick is natural, allergen-free, and biodegradable. The metal sustainer holds the ply upright on the bottom of the container, which makes pouring wax and centring the wick easier.
What makes a wooden wick interesting
- Crackling when burning – the wick belongs to the series the manufacturer describes as crackling.
- Single ply – the wick consists of one flat wood strip that slides directly into the sustainer.
- Easy to set up – the ply slides into the sustainer and stands on the bottom of the container, staying upright even during wax pouring.
- Trim to fit the container – the wick is cut down to the height of the specific candle.
Use in candle making
The wick is intended for container candles. The ply slides into the sustainer, the sustainer is placed in the centre of the container bottom, and the container is filled with wax. Once the wax has set, the wick is trimmed to the height of the candle.
A width of 12.7 mm and a ply thickness labelled .04 are the main specifications used to select a wick. The thickness label is the manufacturer's designation: the higher the number, the thicker the ply. The suitable container diameter depends on the type of wax, fragrance oil load, and colourant, so it cannot be determined by a single universal value.
Before producing a larger batch, it is recommended to pour a test candle and let it burn for several hours. This will show whether the wax melts all the way to the edge of the container and whether the flame is not too high.
Good to know
Neither the wick nor the sustainer is intended for contact with food or cosmetic products. They are used exclusively for candle making.
