Product description

Dark brown glass jar with silver lid is an elegant and practical packaging suitable for filling a wide range of cosmetic formulations and artisanal products. The dark glass helps protect more sensitive components from light and enables safe storage of thicker as well as semi-liquid preparations. In combination with a reliable closure, it offers an aesthetic and functional solution for home and professional use.

Possible uses

  • creamy face and body products (day and night creams, balms, butters, ointments)
  • caring blends for lips, hands and dry areas (balms, lanolin-based or wax-based preparations)
  • peels and masks (sugar, salt, clay and enzyme formulations)
  • concentrated aromatic blends and perfumed balms
  • homemade salves, herbal blends and specialised cosmetic formulations

Packaging benefits

  • Material stability – glass is chemically stable and suitable for most cosmetic formulations, including preparations containing oils or active ingredients.
  • Content protection – dark brown glass helps limit light penetration, supporting longer stability of more sensitive components and colourants.
  • Aesthetic appearance – the combination of dark glass and silver lid looks professional and is suitable for own brands as well as gift packaging.
  • Universal use – the jar is particularly suitable for cosmetic products, testers, samples and small batches of artisanal production.
  • Sustainability – the glass packaging is robust, easy to clean and, with proper care, suitable for repeated use.

Combining with closures and dispensers

The glass jar is part of a combination of packaging and closure with a silver lid. Combinations of packaging and closures created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we recommend always performing your own compatibility test (sealing, dosing and behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation), so that you can be sure the packaging works reliably with your specific product.

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are listed in the enclosed Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.

FAQ – Most common questions

Is this glass jar also suitable for products with a higher content of oils or essential oils?

Glass is generally a very stable and inert packaging material that tolerates formulations with a higher proportion of vegetable oils or essential oils well. For every new recipe, however, we recommend carrying out a small compatibility test – fill a small amount of product, observe any changes in appearance, scent or closure tightness, and only then fill the entire batch.

How should I correctly prepare the glass jar for the first filling?

Before the first filling, visually check the jar, remove dust or any impurities and prepare it hygienically according to the type of manufacturing process. In manual production it is usually recommended to wash and then disinfect the inside and rim of the packaging with a suitable disinfectant, in order to minimise the risk of microbial contamination during filling.

Can I reuse this packaging for new batches of products?

The glass jar can be reused if proper hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned, residues of the original product removed and then disinfected, for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For this purpose, you can use the products IPA 99% – isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured vegetable. Packaging prepared in this way is suitable for repeated filling as long as it is not mechanically damaged.

How should I correctly dispose of or recycle the glass jar if I do not want to continue using it?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, recycling it in accordance with local waste sorting rules is recommended. The glass parts of the packaging are usually placed in the container designated for glass, while plastic or metal elements of the closure should be sorted according to the material specified in the product parameters. Before handing it over for recycling, we recommend emptying the packaging and removing larger product residues so that sorting is more efficient.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

When selecting a suitable bottle, jar or pot, you can use the advanced filter in the packaging material categories. It is located at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant category and allows you to filter packaging according to several parameters, for example neck type, size, colour or material. Thanks to this, you can easily choose the packaging that best matches your product and the intended method of dosing.
