The aluminum jar with lid represents a professional solution for packaging creamy, gel and loose (powder) formulations where protection of the formula from external influences and light is important. Thanks to its rigid metal body and precisely fitting closure, this jar is popular for small batches of natural cosmetics, balms, ointments, butters and travel sizes of products. The compact container is also suitable for various solid or powder blends that need to be kept safely closed and protected during storage and transport.
The aluminum jar is often used specifically for natural cosmetics, balms, ointments and body butters. The metal packaging protects the formulation from light and mechanical damage and helps to maintain the stability of the product during normal use and storage. For very reactive or specific formulations, however, we always recommend performing your own compatibility test to verify the behaviour of the packaging in contact with the particular recipe.
The jar can be reused as long as you follow basic hygiene principles. Before each new filling, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned, dried and then disinfected with a suitable alcohol, for example with IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable products. This will reduce the risk of microbial contamination and prevent the properties of the new batch of product from being affected by residues from the previous fill.
First, remove any visible product residues mechanically (with a spatula or paper towel), then wash the jar in a suitable cleaning solution or a mild surfactant-based cleanser and rinse thoroughly with clean water. After it has completely dried, the internal space of the packaging must be disinfected with an alcohol-based preparation, for example using IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. Only after the alcohol has fully evaporated is the jar ready for refilling.
If you decide not to reuse the jar, we recommend recycling it in accordance with local waste sorting rules. After removing as much product residue as possible, the clean aluminum packaging usually belongs in the container designated for metal packaging. Always adapt the recycling recommendations to the information given for the product in the parameter table and to the local waste collection system in your municipality or city.
