The glass jar with plastic lid is a practical and elegant packaging solution, suitable especially for creamy, gel-based and loose formulations where protection of the contents and convenient dosing are important. The rigid glass provides a stable environment for cosmetic formulations as well as artisanal products and helps to minimize interaction between the container and the contents. Dark glass also supports better preservation of more sensitive components that may be more prone to changes when exposed to light.
Yes, the jar can be used repeatedly if basic hygiene principles are followed. Before each new filling, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the packaging and then disinfecting it with a suitable preparation, for example technical alcohol or isopropyl alcohol. For this purpose, you can use products available on Handymade, such as IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. Only after the packaging is completely dry is it appropriate to proceed to filling a new batch of product.
First, mechanically remove the residues of the original product, for example using paper towels or a spatula. Then wash the container in warm water with a suitable cleaning agent and rinse thoroughly. After washing, it is important to allow the glass to dry completely and then disinfect it, for example with IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. Clean the lid more gently to avoid damaging the seal, and before refilling make sure that all parts are dry and free from residues of cleaning agents.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it responsibly. After removing product residues and basic rinsing, the glass part of the jar should be placed in a collection container intended for glass, according to local waste sorting rules. The plastic lid usually belongs in the container for plastic waste, and it is practical to separate it from the glass part. Specific recycling recommendations follow the material designation given in the product parameters for the packaging on the Handymade website and the local rules of municipal collection.
The glass jar can also be used as a travel container for a smaller amount of product, especially thick creams and balms. When transporting, we recommend always checking that the lid is firmly tightened and, in the case of very soft or oil-based blends, using additional protection, such as a resealable bag. Due to the glass design, it is advisable to handle the container carefully and protect it from impacts or falling.
