Product description
Amber glass medicine bottle, black dropper, 100 ml
A ready-made set for oils, serums and tinctures that are dispensed by the drop: an amber glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a black dropper with a tamper-evident ring. Amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, so the set suits products sensitive to light and oxidation, for example face and hair oils, oil serums with vitamin E or coenzyme Q10, essential oil blends in a carrier oil or alcohol tinctures. The long dropper reaches almost to the bottom of the bottle, so you can dispense the remaining contents as well without tilting it.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the glass medicine bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the dropper does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
What the set is suitable for
- Face and body oils – the dropper lets you apply exactly as much as the skin absorbs, without pouring from the neck.
- Oil serums for hair and beard – a few drops into the palms or directly onto the ends.
- Essential oil blends in a carrier oil – amber glass slows down the changes in scent that light speeds up.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with ethanol and the dropper makes measuring easier.
- Working bottle in the workshop or salon – for active ingredients and concentrates that are taken out drop by drop into smaller formulations.
The dropper is not intended for thick creams, butters and gels with high viscosity. The contents would either not be drawn into it or could not be pushed out comfortably.
How the set works
The medicine bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The brimful capacity is larger and you will find it in the parameters. The difference is a reserve for the inserted dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards when it is screwed in, and for the expansion of liquids when the temperature changes. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents are pushed out through the thread and the dropper then does not seal.
The dropper has a glass tube, a plastic cap with a thread and a squeeze bulb. The tamper-evident ring shows whether the packaging has already been opened, which is useful when selling finished products or handing out samples. After the first opening the ring separates and the dropper is then used normally, by screwing it on.
Before the first filling, wash both the medicine bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Traces of water in an oil-based product shorten its shelf life and support the growth of microorganisms.
Good to know
Glass and temperature. The medicine bottle withstands normal cleaning with warm water, but sudden temperature changes can damage the glass. Let hot phases cool down before filling and do not rinse a cold bottle with boiling water.
Dropper and concentrated essential oils. Pure essential oils, citrus essential oils and some solvents may over time soften or discolour the bulb and plastic parts. For such contents we recommend filling one bottle with the finished formulation and checking the seal and the condition of the bulb after several weeks.
Reuse. The glass medicine bottle can be refilled repeatedly after washing and disinfection. For the dropper, the service life depends on what it has come into contact with. If the bulb has lost its elasticity or does not draw liquid in, replace it.
Water-based products. Toners, hydrosols and water-based serums can be filled into the set. However, the dropper comes into contact with air and fingers every time it is used, so such contents need a preservative.
The dropper is not a leak-proof seal for transport. When shipping finished products, pack the medicine bottle upright and check that the bulb is not squeezed, otherwise the contents may be pushed into the thread.
Other closures. Closures with the same neck finish as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Recycling. The glass medicine bottle belongs in glass waste. The dropper combines glass, plastic and silicone, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
