Product description
Glass bottle, dropper bottle, black dropper cap, 10 ml is a ready-made set for dropper products: an amber glass bottle and a black dropper cap with a tamper-evident ring that fit together and do not need to be selected separately. Amber glass protects the contents from light, and the dropper cap allows precise dosing drop by drop. The 10 ml volume is especially suitable for facial and oil serums, essential oil blends, concentrated active ingredients, tinctures and samples that are dosed in small amounts and used up quickly.
The set as a whole is intended for use with cosmetic products. The bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the dropper cap does not, so the set is not used for food purposes.
Why choose this set
- Light protection – amber glass reduces light transmission, which accelerates the oxidation of vegetable oils and the degradation of sensitive active ingredients (vitamins, retinoids, essential oils). The contents will retain their original properties for longer.
- Precise dosing – the glass dropper with a silicone bulb draws up and releases the contents drop by drop, which is more practical than pouring from the bottle for concentrated serums and oils.
- Tamper-evident ring – it tears on first opening and the customer can immediately see whether the product has been opened. This is a useful trust feature when selling finished products.
- Glass that does not react with the contents – the glass bottle and the glass tube of the dropper cap do not react with oils, essential oils or alcohol-based solutions, which cannot always be said of plastic packaging.
How the set works
The bottle has the shape of a dropper bottle with a threaded neck. The dropper cap consists of a closure, a glass tube and a silicone bulb. When the bulb is pressed and released, the tube fills with liquid, which is then dispensed drop by drop. The length of the tube is matched to the height of the bottle, so the contents can be used up without unnecessary residue.
Nominal volume is the volume for which the container is designed under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference is a reserve for the dropper tube, which displaces part of the volume when inserted, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper cap is fitted.
Fit the dropper cap onto a dry and clean neck and tighten by hand only. Over-tightening may damage the tamper-evident ring before the product is sold.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial and oil serums – concentrated products with a small daily dose, where dropper dosing prevents waste.
- Essential oil blends and aromatherapy concentrates – dark glass and precise dropper application are the standard here.
- Cuticle oils, beard oils and hair end oils – small packaging for travel or as a range add-on.
- Alcohol-based tinctures and extracts for cosmetic purposes – neither glass nor silicone reacts with ethanol.
- Samples and test batches – the 10 ml volume is sufficient for customers to try a formulation without large packaging costs.
Good to know
Before the first fill, wash both the bottle and the dropper cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product can cause cloudiness or microbial spoilage.
Water-based products (tonics, aqueous serums) can be filled in this set. However, the dropper cap is not a hermetic closure and aqueous contents require a preservation system. With oils and anhydrous serums, a preservative is not necessary, but an antioxidant is advisable.
The dropper tube is made of glass, so the contents remain in contact with glass, not plastic. The silicone bulb tolerates both vegetable and essential oils.
Labelling – the cylindrical shape of the bottle allows easy application of a label around the circumference. Label dimensions can be found in the product parameters.
Glass is sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not move it directly from cold to warm conditions.
Recycling – the bottle goes in the glass waste; the dropper cap is a combination of glass, polypropylene and silicone, so it should be separated from the bottle before disposal.
Closures with the same type of neck and further ready-made container and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, dosing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
