Product description
The glass bottle, a dropper vial with a black pipette, 30 ml is a ready-to-fill complete set for serums, facial oils and tinctures that are dispensed drop by drop. Amber glass protects the contents from light, making it particularly suitable for formulations with sensitive ingredients – vegetable oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, oil serums with vitamins or essential oil blends. The dropper with a tamper-evident ring allows precise measurement of the required amount and at the same time gives the customer assurance that no one has opened the product before them. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What the set is suitable for
- Oil serums and facial oils – dispensed in a few drops, and amber glass slows down the oxidation of oils caused by light.
- Aqueous serums with active ingredients – the dropper draws up thin aqueous solutions too, and glass does not react with the contents even at low pH.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass is resistant to alcohol, and the dropper allows precise counting of drops into water or into a formulation.
- Essential oil blends and fragrance compositions – the glass tube of the dropper does not absorb fragrance or transfer it between fillings.
- Samples and trial batches – the small volume is suitable for testing a new formulation or for gift and travel packaging.
The dropper is not intended for thick emulsions, gels or creams. The tube cannot draw up such contents and working with them in a bottle with a narrow neck is impractical. For thin to medium-viscosity products, however, the dropper is a convenient and precise dispensing method.
How the set works
The bottle has the shape of a medicine vial – a straight cylinder with a short neck that stands stably and is easy to hold even when dispensing with one hand. The dropper screws onto the neck and the glass tube reaches almost to the bottom, so nearly all the contents can be drawn up. Pressing the silicone bulb fills the tube and releasing the pressure dispenses the contents drop by drop.
The tamper-evident ring beneath the dropper cap separates from the cap when it is first unscrewed. For the customer it is a visible sign that the packaging has not been opened. For the manufacturer it is simple tamper evidence without an additional seal or shrink wrap.
Nominal and total volume
With every container we distinguish two volumes. The nominal volume is the amount the container is designed for under normal filling conditions – for this bottle 30 ml. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is not an error but a reserve: the dropper tube, once inserted, displaces some of the contents upward, the contents expand with temperature changes, and a completely full bottle would seal less effectively. It is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Exact values for both volumes are given in the specifications.
Before the first production run, measure 30 ml of water, pour it into the bottle and insert the dropper. You will see where the level actually ends up and can set your filling mark without overflow.
What is good to know when filling
Preparing the container. Before first use, wash the bottle, rinse it and disinfect the inside with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Leave it to dry completely upside down. Disassemble the dropper into the tube and bulb, rinse them separately and allow to dry – moisture in the tube would introduce water into an oil-based product.
Temperature during filling. Glass tolerates sudden temperature changes poorly. Allow products prepared hot to cool to room temperature before filling. Fit the dropper only once the contents have cooled; otherwise, as the contents cool, pressure changes and the silicone bulb may draw them up.
Contact of the contents with the bulb. The glass tube has no problem with the contents; however, the silicone bulb should not remain in prolonged contact with them. Do not store the bottle on its side for extended periods. With concentrated essential oils or solvents, check the bulb's behaviour in the specific formulation.
Repeated use. After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be refilled. After the first opening, the dropper no longer has the tamper-evident ring, but it continues to function. When refilling, wash it the same way as before first use.
Labelling. The straight cylindrical wall offers space for a label around the full circumference. Apply the label to dry, degreased glass.
Food and cosmetics. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone holds a declaration of compliance for direct food contact; the dropper does not – therefore do not use the set for food products.
Recycling. The bottle belongs in glass collection. The dropper is a combination of plastic, silicone and glass, so separate it from the bottle before disposal and do not place it in the glass bin.
Do not fill the bottle to the brim. Once the tube is inserted, the contents will rise above the neck, contaminating the thread, and the dropper will then fail to seal.
