Glass dropper bottle for serums and oils

Ready-made complete set – bottle and closure: amber glass bottle in the shape of a vial with a nominal volume of 50 ml and a black-gold dropper with the same neck type. It is designed for products dispensed drop by drop – facial serums, oil blends and tinctures. The amber glass limits light transmission and protects light-sensitive contents from oxidation. The dropper allows precise extraction of small amounts without fully opening the bottle.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone also holds a certification for direct food contact, but the dropper does not – therefore, the complete set is intended for cosmetics only.

Key benefits

  • Light protection – amber glass limits light transmission, slowing the degradation of plant oils, vitamins and other substances sensitive to UV radiation. Glass is also chemically stable and does not react with essential oils or alcoholic tinctures.
  • Precise dispensing – the dropper with a glass tube and silicone bulb draws and releases the contents drop by drop. For serums and concentrates applied just a few drops at a time, this is more practical than pouring from the neck.
  • Black and gold appearance – the aluminium dropper cap in black and gold complements the dark glass. The set is also suitable for products intended for sale or as a gift.
  • Ready-made combination – the bottle and dropper share the same neck type; the seal and tube length are matched for this volume. No need to select anything separately.

Intended use

A volume of 50 ml is suitable for products with a daily consumption of a few drops to tenths of a millilitre. These typically include:

  • facial serums on both oil and water base,
  • oil blends for face, beard or hair ends,
  • tinctures and extracts on an alcoholic base,
  • diluted essential oils and aromatherapy blends,
  • concentrates of active ingredients added to a cream or mask only at the point of use.

For thick creams, butters or gels with high viscosity the dropper is not suitable – the contents will not draw into the tube.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for when filled normally. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the dropper: when screwed in, the glass tube is submerged in the contents and displaces some of the volume upward. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will overflow or remain in the thread when the dropper is fitted. Exact values for both volumes can be found in the product parameters.

Before first use, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the dropper could dilute an anhydrous product or cause cloudiness in an oil.

Good to know

  • Dropper and alcohol – the glass tube and silicone bulb tolerate both alcoholic and oily contents. With tinctures containing a high proportion of ethanol, we recommend occasionally checking whether the bulb changes after prolonged contact with the vapours. During normal use, when the bulb is above the liquid level, this does not occur.
  • Essential oils – undiluted essential oils can stress the silicone bulb over time. The dropper set is therefore better suited to diluted blends and serums than to pure essential oils.
  • Glass and heat – do not fill the bottle with a hot phase directly from a water bath; a sudden temperature change may damage the glass. Allow the contents to cool to at least room temperature.
  • Reuse – the glass bottle can be washed and reused after emptying. Disassemble the dropper, rinse the tube and bulb with warm soapy water, rinse with ethanol and allow to dry. If the bulb has lost its elasticity or turned yellow, replace it.
  • Labelling – the bottle has a cylindrical shape with a flat surface for a label. A PP or PE film label withstands contact with oil better than a paper one.
  • Recycling – the glass bottle goes into glass recycling. The dropper is a combination of aluminium, plastic, silicone and glass and should therefore be disassembled by material before recycling.

Do not overtighten the dropper. The aluminium cap can deform and the tube may crack in the neck. Hand-tightening is sufficient for a seal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber glass dropper bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass limits light transmission and slows the oxidation of oils, vitamins and other sensitive substances. However, it does not replace storing in a cool, dark place – do not leave the bottle on a windowsill or near a heat source. For the most sensitive ingredients, it is recommended to combine amber glass with an antioxidant in the formulation.
How much can actually be filled into the glass dropper bottle?
Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The total volume of the bottle is slightly larger, but this difference is needed as a reserve for the dropper tube, which displaces some of the contents upward when screwed in. If overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck or remain in the thread when closing.
Is the dropper set suitable for food, such as homemade oil or syrup?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the glass bottle separately holds a certification for direct food contact; the dropper does not have this declaration. The complete set is therefore intended for cosmetic products – serums, oils, tinctures and concentrates.
Can the dropper be used for alcoholic tinctures and extracts?
Yes, the glass tube and silicone bulb tolerate alcoholic contents during normal use. For long-term storage of tinctures with a high ethanol content, we recommend occasionally checking the elasticity of the bulb, which is exposed to the vapours. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume so that the bulb is not in direct contact with the liquid.
How is the glass dropper bottle cleaned for reuse?
Wash the bottle with warm soapy water, rinse and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Disassemble the dropper into the cap, bulb and tube, wash all parts, rinse with ethanol and allow to air-dry. Before refilling, check that no water remains in the tube and that the bulb seals properly.
Can I use a different closure on the glass bottle instead of the included dropper?
Yes, any closure with the same neck type from the Handymade range fits the bottle – a screw cap, spray pump or another dropper. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, the dropper tube length and the behaviour of the closure with the specific formulation, especially with oils and alcoholic contents. The ready-made sets have these parameters matched.
